Masked man is this fiction? Please say it is just your imagination. I hope it is cos I’m an emotional mess right now. The love between the two men, the death of both men. Kinda like something out of ‘Twilight: New Moon. The son’s loss.
Gosh I’m just a mess this early. I’m going back to bed sobbing.

It is fiction based on a true life story.
And why are you emotional this early morning. Is everything alright?

Life’s hard enough. When it’s possible to steal moments of joy, by all means, have at it.
This is a very touching story. Is it entirely fiction? I wonder how I’d react if I’m confronted with the knowledge that my dad is gay.

so he wants his son to always find his joy but said he shouldn’t date halima cos of her ethnic group… while he was (probably) cheating on mother with a mr femi? i would have a hard time forgiving that kind of hypocrisy.

the story reminds me of the subplot in that rag tag movie. wonder if this type of arrangement is a common thing with the older generation

Sweet plot, it never crossed my mind that the story would twist this way. Poignant, heart wrenching piece …

MM this is some dope ass writing. For a minute, I was wondering where the story was headed. I wouldn’t have imagined it ending the way it did.

Babatunde had the pleasure of living a full life. He was blessed with a heart big enough to love two people. Two people who probably understood his life’s choices and stood by him regardless. Now that’s my idea of love. Stannding the test of time, always giving and requiring nothing in return.

    Bravo!

Immediately I saw this, “And she hadn’t always been around; always traveling for this conference or that TEDx Talk. Mr. Femi was the only regular visitor.”, I knew where the story was headed.
    Beautiful piece.

Every time I’m confronted with the thought of marriage I think about this sort of story above and wonder how mine would end. That usually makes my decision a whole lot easier: I’d find my joy, and love, irrespective of who gets displeased. I’ve got just the one life.

I suspect the mom knew. Hence the constant traveling. Some wives, I presume, deal with the discovery of their husbands’ sexualities by enabling them, you know, carrying on with separate lives.
Then again, maybe I’m just spouting nonsense. This isn’t exactly my forte. 🙂

My dear e possible well well. Like one video I just saw on IG where quite a number of Naija babes would rather chop beating inside Hummer Jeep than live happily inside Keke Napep.

I concur. They be like: “If he is getting his jolly on with someone else then I might as well enjoy myself too, maybe by travelling or ‘seeing’ other people. It happens. Instead of going through a divorce they’d rather ‘balance the scales’.

Beautifully written poignant story. I had no idea how it was going to end.
I like the fact he found love and stayed true to it despite the strain obligations placed on it.
The words of wisdom “find your joy” seems like one that comes from hindsight, experience and understanding of what life is about.
Thanks for this meturobious tale. ?
