Forget HIV For The Moment…Think Ebola

article-2594853-1CBA8A4F00000578-154_634x422No one knows for sure just how many people Patrick Sawyer came into contact with the day he boarded a flight in Liberia, had a stopover in Ghana, changed planes in Togo, and then arrived in Nigeria, where authorities say he died days later from Ebola, one of the deadliest diseases known to man.

Now health workers are scrambling to trace those who may have been exposed to Sawyer across West Africa, including flight attendants and fellow passengers.

Health experts say it is unlikely he could have infected others with the virus that can cause victims to bleed from the eyes, mouth and ears. Still, unsettling questions remain: How could a man whose sister recently died from Ebola manage to board a plane leaving the country? And worse: Could Ebola become the latest disease to be spread by international air travel?

The risk of travelers contracting Ebola is considered low because it requires direct contact with bodily fluids or secretions such as urine, blood, semen, sweat or saliva, experts say. Ebola can’t be spread like flu through casual contact or breathing in the same air.

And patients are contagious only once the disease has progressed to the point they show symptoms, according to the WHO. And the most vulnerable are health care workers and relatives who come in much closer contact with the sick.

But the mere prospect of Ebola in Africa’s most populous nation has Nigerians on edge. It has me on edge, hence the reason for this post. There are a lot of things I am unsure of, especially about the information being spread about preventive measures against Ebola. But a few of them which make sense as prevention are listed below:

Do not buy and eat any fruit directly without washing it first very well.

Try and avoid unnecessary hand shaking; in Nigeria, we shake hands for the entire Europe and Africa put together. If you must shake hands, keep your hands away from your mouth and either use a hand sanitizer or wash with soap and water afterwards. Unlike HIV, Ebola can be spread through contact with body sweat or saliva, so be careful.

Avoid eating any meat from apes e.g. monkeys and its families. For now, you might want to stay away from eating any meat that you do not know it’s source, most especially beloved ‘suya’ and ‘kilishi’ – they were never healthy anyways. If you must eat meat, buy and cook it yourself with sufficient salt, water and whatever else is used to boil meat. Stay away from bats and bat meat as well.

In case you still need to be told, bathe as often as you can. With soap.

Alert the authorities to anything suspicious; the numbers to call are – 08023169485, 08033086660, 08033065303, 08055281442, and 08055329229. And stay informed. Watch, read and listen to the news daily; thirty minutes away from Telemundo or your ‘50 Shades of Grey’ will not kill you, but Ebola could.

Dude, I hope that was a joke. Viruses need living cells to multiple. Placing the innoculum in John G’s palm, which consist of dead cells is not a conducive environment for viral replication.
Now a proper test of faith, would have been to inject the innoculum into John G’s body.

This…thing??? is the stuff heavy duty BCs are made from. Geez!!!

I wouldn‘t describe myself as the average Nigerian, but who remembers anthrax, and that bird flu thingie? With the high risks involved in this one also, whoever the thing will catch, it will catch. Exposure to contaminants, patients or not. I mean how long before the virus finds a way into the system after every handshake or hug prior handwashing???

You know it’s superstitious mentally like this that is making this particular outbreak so difficult to contain. Yes I believe in miracles but I also believe in doing your part first; by taking preventive action to prevent the virus’ spread. And u certainly do not need any one to lay hands on you to receive a healing. You can pray in the confines of ur bedroom, and still receive ur healing w/o putting others at risk

Bia pinky why is this BC here longer than necessary, can’t count the number of times I’ve received this foolishness via whatsapp- yes its pure foolishness

I took the liberty of gathering up information on Pastor John G Lake, yes he was a missionary in Africa, but he was in South Africa, and he had something called the healing room. Based on my findings there’s no mention of him healing ebola across africa during his lifetime. There’s no mention of him ever leaving south africa at all.

I believe in God, I believe in the trinity, but please there’s a fine line between faith and foolishness.

    Ebola is REAL
It is advised that everyone exercises caution and common sense by maintaining good hygiene

May God keep us all safe and we pray and hope this will pass soon

    Stay safe everyone

And once again you just showed your myopia in the things of God that’s sadly not d same as mere men especially those who just Kant see dat they can’t create themselves!!! How can God do so much good without his acceptance of man and indeed the great invitation into his sphere of being…absolutely nada!!! yup didn’t u here that Jesus COULD not do mighty works in his own home cause of their unbelief!!!…So until u acknowledge him as HIS rightful self in your life u ain’t gonna get dat rightful all heavenly sweet living this world truly yearns for…

Get the fuck off, king. I just had to fight this John G Lake rubbish on Bellanaija. He healed nobody of ebola – ebola broke out in the 70s, and Lake was long dead by the 50s.

Even some gays are spouting pseudo religious crap.

How could you just be so unknowing and lacking in knowledge….simple clarification for you is to find out if you’ve asked yourself where diseases come from and do they have year of manifestation or year of Discovery!! Please never confuse d two!!!

So Lake was curing ebola before anyone even knew what it was?

      1. Which country in Africa?
2.Give names of the people he cured.
      3. show video or strong evidence of this palm thing.

You’re the one without knowledge here, see how you swallowed a Broadcast you received. Do you lack discernment? Do you not know how to evaluate arguments and claims?

Your pastor Itua Ighodalo has been disgraced over this fake Lake story
      http://www.bellanaija.com/2014/07/29/pastor-ituah-ighodalo-defends-his-solution-to-ebola-facebook-post-sparking-outrage/#comments

P.S. If your evidence requires “faith” or “belief” in your brand of revivalist Christianity don’t even bother. i’m guessing you also use Lake’s method to protect against HIV, Herpes and other STDs? Shame on you.

I don’t think Chuck’s beef is with whether ailments (specifically Ebola) can be healed divinely or not. He just has a problem with this preacher whose ‘reputation’ y’all are touting.
