Jessica Alba Quit Christian Church Over Homophobia

celebs 92Actress Jessica Alba turned her back on the Christian church she attended as a teen because elders didn’t approve of her crush on a bisexual dancer.

The Sin City beauty was raised a Catholic but converted to Evangelicalism, where she quickly realised she didn’t agree with the Church’s firm stance on homosexuality and premarital sex.

In a new interview with The Daily Beast, Alba recalls upsetting her friends and leaders in the Christian youth group she was involved in as a teenager. She reveals, “It was very twisted. I fell in love when I was 16 and had this major crush on… I guess he was a drag queen. He was bisexual and a ballerina, and this was while I was at the Atlantic Theater Company in Vermont.

“We used to go to this gay club and I’d dance with him all night, four nights a week. I was so in love with him and thought, ‘There’s no way this guy’s going to hell,’ because in my church, it was, ‘Anybody who’s gay is going to hell’ and ‘Premarital sex is evil’, and I thought, ‘There’s no chance! This guy is amazing!’ So that went right out the window.”

Alba has previously stated that her experience in both churches led her to abandon organized religion all together in favour of a more spiritual experience.

@Kendigin, my thoughts exactly, organised religion is a truckload of false bullshit, propped up by fairytales (the old testament) designed to manipulate and control those too scared to liberate their minds. I abandoned it in favour of a more spiritual experience – no regrets whatsoever!! Nothing can equate the mental growth and maturity that liberation from false religious bonds brings!!

Religion incorporates public rituals, doctrines anr generally fictious ridiculous stories. Spirituality is more personal and private.
Jesus was actually spiritual not religious. Notice how he emphasized common sense over what was contained in the books?

What really is the difference between organised religion and spirituality? To be spiritual don’t you have to follow something? Someone? A thing you really don’t fully understand? I really need to be enlightened as to what being spiritual means so khaleesi, you’re up.

Hm she could have just gone to a different denomination. Like a UCC. They are currently suing for the right to perform gay marriage because marriage is a religious institution and the government shouldn’t be able to regulate religious tradition.

There was a time in my life when I had to question d existence of a supreme being…God. I declared to my family that I no longer believe in god and consequently won’t participate in d family morning devotions in d future.None could question me cos I was there breadwinner, mentor and all but I kept struggling within me weather I was right or wrong.I went into study.Histroy, traditions, theology etc.I made several trips to different parts of this country in search of d truth.Notable among d places I visited was Obelle and Ubimini in Rivers state. There I had interactions with d Queen who was also a priestess to d river godess and I was convinced beyond doubt in a supreme being.I was then left with d task of finding d true God.Further, studies n 1st hand experiences I had made me to believe, beyond doubt that God in Christ is d ultimate.Atheism is foolish.its self deceit.D problem with some gay guys is that they are bitter with a “god” they feel hates their sexuality but I have come to realize that God loves gays.Gays are d apple of His eyes.lets stop this exercise in self-deceipt that God doesn’t exist simply bcos it makes us feel cool.He was and is.so complex yet so simple.out of sight but very present
