‘Looking’ gets a July premiere date

Fans of Looking can start planning their summer viewing parties.

HBO has announced that Looking: The Movie, the finale to the series about gay men in San Francisco, will premiere on 23 July.

The series starring Jonathan Groff, Russell Tovey, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett was canceled last year after two seasons but a finale was promised to disappointed fans.

The 90-minute finale will conclude the storylines for the three close friends played by Groff, Alvarez and Bartlett who were the core of the series.

The film will air more than a year since Looking went off the air and the plot of the finale mirrors that time period.

It has the character of Patrick (Groff) returning to San Francisco for the first time in almost a year to celebrate a momentous event with his old friends. While he’s in town, he must face the unresolved relationships he left behind. He also must make some difficult choices about what’s important to him.

Groff took a five-week break from the smash Broadway musical Hamilton to return to San Francisco to film the movie. He has been nominated for a Tony Award for supporting actor in a musical for his performance as King George.

Groff has since left Hamilton for good and begun work on his next TV series Mindhunter. It’s a far cry from Looking. The show is about the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit that tracks down serial killers and rapists.

Well, if you did watch it, you wouldn’t class the main character as “buff and manly”

But then again, “In the land of the blind….”????

Lol. Well, glad you cleared that out for me cos I haven’t actually seen it. The theme picture didn’t do justice to my inference.
