My Love Life…A Secret

My Love Life…A Secret

As a young child, I was taught the rights where I could never have it wrong

I heard enough, too much to know what I felt in the eyes of many would always be wrong.

I was sad.

So I ran. I fought. I hid. All in a bid to be everyone’s normal.

And it worked, as long as it could. Until I couldn’t run, fight or hide anymore.

And then I found her, love enough to make me do things I swore I would never do.

The exact kind I needed, where I only look forward to our every tomorrow.

The kind that may not be the norm but causes each day that I wake up to be filled with longing, with hope, with a sense of the brand new

Call me selfish but I only ever want to taste and see if it was what I’d imagined.

And oh, it feels so different from everything else I have ever known.

Now I feel like I am home.

Every beam on her face soothes my anger.

Each whispering voice of hers calms the demons inside.

In her, I see my soul, and feel the intensity of my broken walls.

A true woman, one whose pledges never trembles

Whose love is as new as the promise of a proud rainbow after the storm.

Sweetheart, I am learning to unhide you.

To not pretend you are a stranger when with familiar faces

For in the end, the desire is to hold your hand tight in a crowded daylight.

In you, I have found love in an un-everyday way.

I will walk side by side with you, with no regrets

In the hope of steadily lighting our flames of passion.
