Terry Crews releases apology letter from the Hollywood exec who sexually assaulted him

Hollywood actor Terry Crews has released the apology letter sent to him by the powerful agent who sexually assaulted him in 2016.

He took to Twitter to share the letter from agent Adam Venit who resigned from his position at the prestigious agency WME last week.

The actor alleged last year that Venit had groped him at a Hollywood party in 2016. Crews was one of the first men to share his story of sexual harassment in the #MeToo movement.

The #MeToo movement gained momentum after more than 100 women came forward to reveal alleged sexual harassment and even rape at the hands of Hollywood’s most powerful producer, Harvey Weinstein. The movement inspired Crews to share his story, because concerns about his career prevented him from speaking publicly sooner. Crews sued WME and tried to press charges against Venit, but the statute of limitations had expired.

Crews received Venit’s letter of apology in March but waited until the agent resigned before sharing it.

“It meant nothing without a resignation,” he told Deadline.

In his letter, Venit takes responsibility for his actions and asked for Crews’ forgiveness.

‘I know that you didn’t ask for any of this. Again, I take responsibility for us being here now, together in this situation. I am sorry for all of it,’ Venit wrote. ‘I even hope that someday we can come together and go forward with compassion and understanding and be an amazing force for positivity and change in our culture. It requires me taking responsibility and understanding my behavior, and for us to start the forgiveness/healing process together.’

After Crews went public with the allegations in October, 2017, WME suspended Venit to investigate them. He returned to work in a diminished capacity just a few weeks later in November.
