Unknown to ME: Climax

Unknown to ME: Climax

FOREWORD: From the writer of both coming out stories, She Knows and Four Dark Walls, comes a new series about his life as a young Nigerian gay man. Check on the debut episode.

*

Usually the story starts with boy meeting boy, then boys become close friends, and after a reasonable or unreasonable period of time, they kiss and/or shag.

Hang on a second – I did that already!

But I’ll have to burst your bubble – that kind of beginning doesn’t do much for me.

So we’ll just skip over to how I became a sad depressed lonely human being who hates himself like no other.

***

Life as a job seeking young adult sucked, no debating that. School before this phase of my life wasn’t so great either. I found myself dealing with a lot of failure. At this point, it was easy to start over-thinking things and come to one conclusion that any average Nigerian would think of: this is my punishment for being gay.

Something, or someone that isn’t you, has to take the blame for your misfortunes, right?

I got back home to meet my cousin James in nothing but his boxer shorts, flashing some sexy abs I wish I had, and my God, those muscles… Yes, he’s my cousin and I’m not being incestuous – just drowning in envy. (Now you can stop looking at me like I’m that dude in Game of Thrones that has no problems screwing his sister. I’ve got a conscience.)

“So how did the interview go?” he enquired.

“Good, except that there was something I did or didn’t do that wouldn’t let them employ me.”

“And that is…”

“Do you really want me to talk about it?”

“Yes. After all, we can talk about your love for cocks. Certainly, whatever it was that you did couldn’t be that bad.”

Silence.

“Okay, coming from you, that sounded homophobic,” I replied with a stern look on my face

He laughed his heart out and I shook my head and joined in the laughter. Then I said, “But I can’t really talk about that now.”

“What? The taste of a dick in your mouth?” he deadpanned.

“I meant the job interview. And now I’m curious. Did Josephine put you up to this?”

“Nope. This one is all me.”

“Well, don’t blame me for asking. With you two probably having all the fun in the world knowing your brother is gay, I’m surprised I haven’t been called for a family meeting yet.”

“Maybe because you got people in the family that you can count on.”

“Right,” I said with a grin.

“Richy, you don’t have to feel bad. Maybe it’s for the best,” Chris cajoled.

“Easy for you to say. You don’t really have to worry about needing anything.”

Okay, I thought I touched Chris’ nerve with that statement until I heard him laugh. “You think?” he asked with a giggle

“Well, allow me to tell you a story. Once upon a time, back at the University, some of my roommates joked about me being a gay homemaker with a rich husband who comes home to fuck me good after a hard day’s work. In the joke, I was basically living on Wisteria Lane.”

At this point, Chris was laughing so hard with his entire body, that I had to pick up my head away from his lap.

“Very funny. Go ahead. Laugh it off,” I groused.

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t help it.”

“Good for you, but I don’t want to be that kind of person, and I’m scared that’s already happening.”

“Listen up, sweetheart. Something great can still happen. You just have to be optimistic…and stay optimistic. Okay?”

“Okay.”

Next thing, he came close enough to plant a kiss on my right cheek, but I needed more than that. And we eventually found ourselves all over each other.

I’d have loved to give you all the juicy details on how he took me right there in his father’s living room and how the party carried on to his bedroom but that would be too much information.

A week later at Club 45…

“Chris, I’ve got something to tell you,” I enthused.

“Me too, but you go first.”

“I got the job!” I said with every bit of happiness in me that almost made it feel like a scream.

“Wow, how did that happen?”

“I got a call from them telling me to come with my previous works and all. I was there yesterday and everything went smoothly, I must say. Bottom line, I start work on Monday.”

“That’s awesome. I told you about being optimistic.”

I leaned in close to his ear and whispered, “If you couldn’t see the ‘thank you’ in that blowjob I gave you, then I’m very disappointed.”

Laughter.

“So you said you have something to tell me too,” I said. “I’m listening.”

“Um, I don’t think this is a good time.”

“Why not?”

Right then, he stopped having that face that I loved to kiss every second I got a chance. I realized he was trying to hide something from me and just like that, I totally forgot I called him here to celebrate with me on this big moment.

“Hey. What’s wrong?” I said with sudden concern.

“I…” He let out a sigh and delayed a bit. And then, what I heard him say afterwards definitely put a stop to the clocks and the world around me.

“I don’t think we can be together anymore.”

You just rememberd you are your family’s sole heir and u will be disinherited??? The reason had better be worth it. It’d better
