FEAR

FEAR

You’re like a tongue of flame on a candle

I’m like my little niece

Fascinated by your luminance

Wanting to be a part of it

Staring with big bright eyes

Wondering if I can get away with it

Just one touch… Will I be burnt?

I probably will be

But maybe then I will be connected to you

Connected by pain

Sharp and sweet

Burning your energy into me

What is love without pain anyway?

Then I remember the other times

When a bright flame caught my attention

The reckless plunging of my fingers

The pain, sharp and sweet at first

Then unbearable and deadly

Sometimes I clung on, bloody masochist that I am

Other times I used my fingers to kill the flame

A few times I just swiped my fingers across it

But one flame left a burn

And that burn was fear

And I remember fear

Fear made me wary

My fingers throbbed for months

Reminding me that flames, though beautiful

Can be deadly

Fear didn’t heal, I wouldn’t let it

I let it control me

And I never played with flames

But here I am again

Staring at the flame that is you

My burnt fingers throbbing

Reminding me that flames can be dangerous

But your light is different

Different in a different way

I reach out my fingers

I can feel the heat coming

Then it’s unbearable, but only for a moment

Your flame burns me, but not like the others have

Its burn heals me

It hurts still but it doesn’t cause me pain

Fear goes away at last

And is replaced by something else

Love.

WHEN LOVE KNOCKS

I knew exactly what Love would look like I’d always thought I hadn’t met Love yet But I knew if Love wandered into my room I would recognise him at

Oh baby, baby how was I supposed to know
Oh pretty baby, I shouldn’t have let you go
I must confess, that my loneliness is killing me now
Don’t you know I still believe
    That you will be here
    And give me a sign
Hit me baby one more time

You’re unfortunately a very interesting fellow, when you’re not a psychopath.. So you will remain stalked *tongue out*
