‘I could meet a guy’: The Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson says he’s open to dating men
Josh Hutcherson gets to meet good-looking men all the time, so the temptation is certainly there.
The 21-year-old star of The Hunger Games – and gay rights supporter – let it be known that the lines are blurred when it comes to his personal game of love.
Although Josh is leaning on the ‘straight’ side, he prefers to keep his mind wide open and even admits in the November issue of Out Magazine that he’s attracted to the same sex.
‘I would probably list myself as mostly straight,’ Josh begins, adding: ‘Maybe I could say right now I’m 100 percent straight. But who knows? In a fucking year, I could meet a guy and be like, “Whoa, I’m attracted to this person.”‘
In his profession, the likelihood of working with gorgeous girls and guys is a given.
Josh tells the magazine: ‘I’ve met guys all the time that I’m like, “Damn, that’s a good-looking guy,” you know? I’ve never been, like, “Oh, I want to kiss that guy.” I really love women. But I think defining yourself as 100 percent anything is kind of near-sighted and close-minded.’
If it seems like Josh is attracting more than the usual attention, it’s because he’s soon to be seen in the highly anticipated sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The movie bows in US theatres on November 22, just in time for Thanksgiving, and reunites him with Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) and Liam Hemsworth (Gale).
Josh even goes so far as to propose a solution to The Hunger Games love triangle by allowing his character, Peeta, to have a threesome with Katniss and Gale.
‘I know Peeta would be into it, for sure,’ Josh tells Out Magazine. ‘He’s very sensitive, in touch with his emotions. I think it really might solve a lot of their problems.’
Josh adds in apparent jest: ‘You know what? I’m going to pitch that idea. Let’s make it a – what’s it called when three people are in a relationship together? A triad? That’ll go over well with Middle America.’
Last year, the actor, whose two gay uncles died of AIDS, came out in support of gay rights through the Straight But Not Narrow campaign. The adventurous star is currently filming the next installment of the futuristic franchise, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.
