Martha Plimpton Masters the Art of Throwing Shade in ‘The Real O’Neals’ Clip

Last week’s The Real O’Neals showed our young protagonist, Kenny (Noah Galvin), celebrating a time-honored gay tradition: the gay Halloween. But of course, the event turned into a tug-of-war with his conservative Catholic mother, Eileen (Martha Plimpton), who was taken aback when Kenny decided to go in Beyoncé drag.

Although Eileen might not be the kind of woman we’d want to befriend in real life, watching her make an effort to embrace her son’s queerness is heartwarming. That’s why watching her master the art of throwing shade, much to her son’s approval, was a sweet moment.
