“They Arrested Me Because ‘All Male Models Are Gay’.” – Nigerian Model narrates his ordeal with the Nigerian Police
The fascination with gay people is real when it comes to the Nigerian Police. All you have to do is look like you fit any of the thousand gay stereotypes, and you’re guilty of homosexuality.
Be slim and clad in skinny jeans. Gay.
Wear earrings and/or nose rings. Gay.
And apparently, be a male model. Gay.
A Nigerian with the Twitter handle @daeveess recently took to twitter to narrate how he was arrested by the police simply because he told them he was a fashion model.
The homophobic ignorance prevalent among these uniformed people who are supposed to protect and serve never ceases to amaze. But hey, let’s not forget that the (Nigerian) Police is Your Friend.

I keep wondering if this police madness is restricted to Lagos. Because Enugu police don’t try this.

November 04, 12:04But why search through someone’s phone? It’s inappropriate. I thought Lagos is a fashionable city, so someone should look good abi? They prefer to see people unkempt and suffering, what a shame. Last last you collect 1k, should have told them you’re hungry too ?. Our police have no discipline and morality, I wonder what they’re teaching them in their training colleges.

My own happened with soldiers on my way to Ekiti state.
*Akure road junction * I think .
They stopped our taxi and of course I was singled out – the afro ; the muscle .
My phone was a walking porn collection , filled with many men in different states of undress.
Luckily , they were mostly NIGERIAN guys , so I told them I was a nude photographer and those were yet to be edited shots.
They asked me why I had mostly naked guys and barely any girls ..
I told them that out of respect for their boyfriends , I usually delete the pictures of the girls after taking them ..
I don’t know if the excuse was good enough or they decided it was too much hassle , they eventually let me go since they didn’t find any other thing incriminating .
* Thanks to my WhatsApp messages that back up only with WiFi *
Now my gallery is squeaky clean ?
Thanks to Google back up , I got to retain all the precious nudes I’ve collected overtime while fronting a chaste phone gallery .
All I need do is turn off my data ? and nothing loads .
