Shooting Her Shot

Shooting Her Shot

So this happened.

Finished from work, I and three of my male friends decided to go hang out at a pub. They wanted to get beers. I wanted them to drive me home.

This waitress came around to take our orders. The guys wanted Heineken and I asked for piña colada. She went to the bar to place the order.

My friends fancied her. They resolved by themselves to all try their luck. Whoever got her number would have the others back out.

So I watched my friends embarrass themselves – and me, because I was embarrassed on their behalf – as they went one after the other to the bar area to ask the waitress for her number.

I noticed that each time one of them walked up to the girl, in the middle of the banter, they would look at me. So I asked them why they were looking at me. They all said the girl kept asking if I was their girlfriend and they all said no.

I couldn’t understand how I could be dating all three of them, but I digress.

In the end, none of them was able to get her number.

She served our orders and left. We all laughed. I laughed at them while they laughed at themselves.

We were ready to leave and the girl came with the bill. We paid and she gave me a piece of paper. Written boldly on it were her number and her name.

Puzzled, I asked her if she wanted me to secretly give it to one of the guys.

She replied, “Nope. I want you to have it. It’s for you.”

She walked out and the four of us stood there for more than two minutes, confused AF.

And then, it finally dawned on us and we all said at once: “Oh”.
