Someone thinks Netflix features too many gay characters, and Netflix had the perfect response

Netflix provides entertainment with lots of movies and television shows, some of which have LGBTQ-flavored characters and storylines. And apparently, these are a few too much for some people.

A Twitter user took to the microblogging site to post a meme complaining about the amount of LGBTQ representation on Netflix. The meme is a screenshot from animated show SpongeBob SquarePants. Patrick Star (labeled “Netflix”) is seen force-feeding a pumpkin (“an unnecessary gay character”) to SpongeBob (“any new series”).

That tweet, which has a disturbing amount of likes and retweets, of course brought out the homophobes to comment. Like the user who responded: “They Promoting that Sh*t they want society to accept it and start Viewing it as normal as a way of life…”

When the tweet began to gain traction, many others came to the streamer’s defense.

Netflix itself eventually chimed in. Its official Twitter account tweeted a response to the original tweet, saying, “Sorry you have yet to realize that every gay person is very necessary.”

This prompted responses agreeing with the streamer.

It’s cute how homophobes still think they can influence Netflix into pandering to their desires of not accommodating LGBT characters in their shows. This is a something Netflix has had to deal with for awhile now, and they should get it into their thick heads that that streaming giant won’t stop representing us. More of the gays please!!!

The main reason i hate most romantic movies is the portrayal of everyone as straight. Statistically its improbable that everyone in a romantic story will be straight. its choice not to depict their character and my choice not to watch
