Taylor Swift drops defiant Pro-Pride Anti-Homophobia Song

Taylor Swift has continued her slow political awakening by releasing a triumphant new anti-homophobia song in time for Pride.

The song, titled ‘You Need To Calm Down’, references LGBT+ organisation GLAAD and takes on Twitter trolls.

“You are somebody that I don’t know,” she sings. “But you’re takin’ shots at me like it’s Patron / And I’m must like, damn, it’s 7 a.m. / Say it in the street, that’s a knockout / But you say it in a tweet, that’s a cop-out.”

“Why are you mad when you could be GLAAD?” she adds in the next verse.

Later in the song she calls out Pride protestors, singing: “Sunshine on the street at the parade / But you would rather be in the dark ages / Makin’ that sign must’ve taken all night.

“You just need to take several seats and then try to restore the peace / And control your urges to scream about all the people you hate / ‘Cause shade never made anybody less gay.”

Swift has been stepping up her support of the LGBT+ community, recently penning an open letter criticizing Donald Trump and calling on her state to support the Equality Act.

She also recently donated $113,000 to LGBT+ charities in her state.

Swift’s new song also led to surge in donations to GLAAD. TMZ reports that the orchestrated name drop turned into real coinage for the advocacy organization: “GLAAD recently started a fundraiser to support its LGBTQ advocacy work during Pride Month, setting a $1,300 goal as an homage to Taylor’s favorite number 13 … and we’re told many of the donations flowing in are for $13. GLAAD executive Anthony Ramos is glad to have Taylor on their side … he says, ‘The fact she continues to use her platform and music to support the LGBTQ community and the Equality Act is a true sign of being an ally.’”

I rarely like Taylor Swift songs.
I have less than 10 of her songs on my devices. And the only reason I get to listen to Taylor’s music is the fact that my friend, who is a Swiftie, ensures that he makes me listen to everything she ever releases.

    However, YNTCD was nice.
Yes, it was a generic Taylor-sounding song.
    But I actually liked it.

Taylor really dropped the ball this era …first there was meh (me ) and now this ….

She used to make bops like blank space , delicate , wildest dreams etcetera …

I know I should like this but I refuse to glorify mediocrity ??

    * Keeps boping to Old Town Road , Bad guyz , Never really over , Sucker and Dancing with a stranger *

“Shade never made anyone less gay ” there is an iconic line though .??
