These Guys Defy Gay Stereotypes And Wish Everyone Else Would Catch On

Stereotypes aren’t created out of nothing. Yes, there are tons of gay guys who lead fabulous, stylish lifestyles. They listen to Beyoncé and Lady Gaga as they sip cocktails and travel the world from event to event. And good for them.

But when stereotypes are applied to a group as a whole, things get sticky.

No, not every gay man wants to go shopping with straight women, and no, we don’t all know who won Drag Race Season 4, and seriously, not every gay man can whip up a mean Chicken Frittata or know what perfect shade of shirt will go with the shoes.

Below, guys sound off on Whisper about the frustration they feel when people try to put them in a gay box:whisper1whisper2whisper3whisper4whisper5whisper6whisper7whisper8whisper9whisper10whisper11whisper12whisper13whisper14whisper15whisper16

    Rabbish!

Going out of your way to show how different you are from a stereotype is actually pushing the same narrative that you are trying to be different from.

You can be anything without pointing out how your “anything” is different from the rest of the bunch!

    This is balderdash

They’re a drowning voice just wanting to be heard, Dennis. Do you know what the disillusions they have had to undergo because of the stereotypes they were expected to meet up?

*gasp* Max! I swear I did not see this type of comment coming from u! I was too sure I’d see a few sprinkles of the phrase #InternalisedHomophobia, in ur comment, regarding what these whisper guys are saying…hmm.

    1. The guy who said he feels weird around other gay guys…

    2. The one who said coming out is pointless…

    3. The one who said he’s not screaming his gayness out loud…

They all have self-loathing issues. No real person feels weird and has nothing in common with other gays; that shit is learned behaviour.

Guys like those three often hope to be “mistaken” for straight. 🙂

While it is great to point out that not all gays are the same, obsessing over how “Zhifferent a gay” you are may just indicate you still have some way to go in accepting yourself.

Here we go again. They aren’t self loathing issues they are just personal preferences. Gay people can have preferences that do not conform with what is expected of their lifestyle which is precisely the essence of this post

…Or maybe they truly feel differently about all those things? That someone isn’t feeling what u and I are feeling, doesn’t make the person a liar or faker or whatever, you know.

But my comment applies to just THREE of the Whispers – which I singled out before commenting. I didn’t say people cannot like what they like.

Take for example the guy who says coming out is pointless. I’m not sure what he means. At some point in your life, friends and family will get to know you are gay. Otherwise, you’re still in the closet. You’re not “screaming” your sexuality. You’re simply clarifying a fact so they know once and for all you’re not hetero. What has that got to do with “screaming”? lol. Na wa! Sorry, but those three guys really need to elaborate.

Its that Beyonce-love and sappy Adele worship and Gaga adoration and Reality tv glorification stereotype that annoys the SHIT out of me.

Finally, *ditches female friend at the mall I’ve never been to* I’m gay and I love to trash my room, play video games till my eyes go crossed and I don’t really care about celebrities, unless he’s hot, like music for lyrics and what it does to me at the time of my listen. *I whispered all this yea?*

I don’t get along with gay people too especially other bottoms, I prefer my straight friends.. And I always like to watch anime a lot and I could carless about fashion and color coordinating and all that stuff. But I still feel I embody one or two stereotypes. There will always be something typically gay that a gay man does, even the folks that posted this. We all have a bit of stereotypical in us

I totally agree with that twink one. The word annoys me. That aside, but don’t we all know these already? Sometimes, we should know that not everything is being stereotypical…it’s just the different types of gays. I really do not think people tag only the effeminates, gay (at least not anymore). I really do not get what the venting is all about shaa

Sexuality is how you feel inside and who you’re attracted to, not what you display for the world to see.

Well you have a point there but do not forget that in every speculation made, there should be a little space made for exceptions. I really do not think there’s anything without an exception. So, not all effeminates are gays. That’s just too definite to be true.
