The Trapped Butterfly
I’m like a butterfly
Still at its larval stage
Looking for a perfect
Condition for metamorphosis
And when I do transform
I stay confined
My wings unable to take me
To the flowers and the sun
The environment is too cruel
To show off my beautiful
Colours of the rainbow
I am locked up
I am aware of who I am
Yet I cannot express myself
I have been locked up for long
I am losing sense of who I am
What a sad story
For a beautiful butterfly
What a yearning we have
For a better story to tell.
