May 27, 06:50That is beautiful!!
Having come out recently and still going through the “uncomfortable discussions” with my mum, I can only imagine the feeling of both parents being @ your wedding…. especially Nigerian parents. Must be awesome shaa ?

May 27, 09:54? definitely, been saying I’ll write this down but I keep procrastinating probably cos it’s still ongoing (not an excuse though…lol).
I’ll be visiting home for the first time in a few weeks since i came out, so it’ll be interesting to see the dynamics.
I’ll probably hand it over by mid June.

May 27, 12:11This is very much like what I was saying on a whatsapp group chat yesterday. If you live your truth, unconditionally, wholly, authentically, that family you hold dear that SHOULD love you just as much as you do them, will come around. It’s what love does. True love.
Unfortunately, we, in Nigeria, are so quick to conform to please. To please family. Please religion. Please society. Please our bosses. Ugh!
I like that these stories, like this lady’s, are out there to teach and hopefully encourage us to tow a path of truth rather than giving in to the pressure from a family that know nothing and require persistent conviction so as not to live a life built on lies and deceit.
