Amunike means Dick and Arse, it literally means that.
Maybe now you get the humour.

It reads as both ‘dick and ass’ and ‘dick in ass’.

It does??? I am now very inclined to believe Igbos av been tolerant (or at least aware) of homosexuality at one time in their history

While I support the enjoyment of the joke, I still feel that things should be put in there proper perspectives. “Amunike” literally means dick in the ass but the name Amunike is a shortened form of the sentence “Amuru nike” which means ” given birth to by force”. Like other African names, Igbo names are given, bearing in mind, the circumstances at the time of birth.
