“Consider The Way Homophobia Functions In Nigeria.” An Argument in Favour of Nigeria Topping the List of Dangerous Countries in the World for the LGBT

Following the revelation of Nigeria as the world’s most dangerous country for LGBT people in a list prepared by Asher and Lyric, there was an outcry on the social media from Nigerians, both straight and gay but mostly straight, against what was seen as an incorrect listing. People argued that the fact that Middle Eastern countries have the death penalty in place as a punishment for homosexuality and that African countries such as Uganda had a law called the “Kill the Gays” bill meant that Nigeria couldn’t possibly be that bad.

But in a few tweets, here is a persuasive point that argues why Nigeria indeed deserves that international recognition as a very horrible place for LGBT people to be in.

And then, this response. (LOL!)

How so apt.

The thread gave me life when I saw it.
The sheer audacity of homophobes to scream and rail against that placement tho. Like they’re entitled to speak in this situation.

Yes, Nigerians are a highly homophobic people. Most is those who are sleeping with men and yet kite gays. But I think the Nigerian kite is generally the corruptible and oppressive mindset o rampant in Nigeria. People only think of how to get something from the other, possibly through oppression!

And for the issue of dangers of kite, I think Ghana should be rated equally in the case of kite, many so bloody that it almost called the victim’s life, as I’ve heard! Even though, Ghana’s law does not really criminalise gays, I’ve heard stories of near death victims in the hand of some of the local hooligans
