Harry Potter Fans mock JK Rowling’s latest insistence that Dumbledore is gay

The Harry Potter fandom has turned on Fantastic Beasts writer J.K. Rowling, however temporarily, after her latest comments on the sexual relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. It doesn’t seem to be a torches-and-pitchforks kind of backlash, more of an eyeroll “here she goes again” kind of frustration from fans tired of the author adding extra details on characters outside of the books and movies.

The author recently said that Albus Dumbledore and the Fantastic Beasts villain Gellert Grindelwald had a “passionate” love affair. Even though there is no explicit mention of Dumbledore’s sexuality in any of the books or films released so far, Rowling reiterated recently that both Dumbledore and Grindelwald had an “incredibly intense” relationship in their youth.

“It was passionate, and it was a love relationship,” the author said. “But as happens in any relationship, gay or straight or whatever label we want to put on it, one never knows really what the other person is feeling. You can’t know, you can believe you know.”

Fantastic Beasts director David Yates added, “This is a story about two men who loved each other, and ultimately have to fight each other. It’s a story for the 21st century.”

However, this time, the reaction to this is a Twitter-wide mockery of Rowling’s latest effort to be gay-inclusive.

Can someone tell JK to show, and not tell.

Auntie should let it go! These source materials have bn published over a decade ago. She missed the opportunity to add all this curious information on inclusivity when the books were still bn written and white hot with anticipation and Glee.

Adding all these information doesn’t do us any favors. They just reek of desperation!
Personally, I thought many of the older characters of the books were asexual, and that was very okay to me.

Auntie should just let the stories be. They have bn completed, they no longer technically belong to her and now belong to the Fans. She should move on!
