Trans actress Candis Cayne admits Caitlyn Jenner not ‘the perfect spokesperson’ amidst reports of ‘I Am Cait’ cancellation
Backlash against Caitlyn Jenner’s conservative politics have reached fever pitch since she was seen calling Hillary Clinton a liar on the most recent episode of her struggling reality series, I Am Cait.
Actress Candis Cayne, one of several transgender women who are series regulars, admits to some frustration among the group over Jenner’s defense of a Republican party with an abysmal record on transgender issues.
‘We were frustrated because Caitlyn is so new at this that she doesn’t realize the impact that these right-wing conservatives have towards the LGBT community,’ Cayne tells TheWrap in an interview posted Wednesday (16 March).
‘Is she the perfect spokesperson? No. But who is?’
Cayne is aware of the backlash against Jenner who last summer was riding a wave of support that included a well-received Vanity Fair cover, a highly-rated interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer and a much-praised acceptance speech at the ESPY Awards.
“For me, it’s alarming that all these people who were praising Caitlyn for so many months have turned on her so quickly,’ Cayne says. ‘Give her a chance to catch up with herself and with her mouth… She’s still putting a megaphone to the rest of the world and I’m a part of a show that has aired in 153 countries who are being introduced to our world, which is incredible. … Millions of people in all continents suddenly know what trans is. I know Cait. I know she’s a good person. I know she wakes up every day and thinks, what can I do for the community?’
Meanwhile, Jenner’s reality TV series is reportedly facing the axe after Season 2. A new report claimed that viewers have started to lose interest in Caitlyn and her adventure with her transgender friends. An insider also speculated that Kris Jenner may have had “sabotaged” the show.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the premiere of I am Cait Season 2 only brought in 745,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating among adults 18-49, which is an all-time low for the show. In comparison, the launch of Season 1 was watched by nearly 2 million viewers.
According to Starpulse, the viewers were possibly losing interest in Caitlyn Jenner‘s life. When Jenner came out, she definitely received a lot of support from social media. Unfortunately, as time passed by, it seemed like even her avid supporters had grown tired of her show, chalking it up as nothing but a Keeping up with the Kardashians spinoff. The publication pointed out that even seeing Caitlyn share some of her tender and candid moments may not be enough to keep the fans’ interest.
With the ratings consistently dropping, it did not come as a surprise that multiple sources have started to speculate that I am Cait is about to get canceled after Season 2. An insider told Naughty Gossip that Caitlyn Jenner is starting to blame herself for the show’s impending cancellation.
When I am Cait first started, Jenner reportedly believed that it would be much bigger than Keeping up with the Kardashians. Unfortunately, the series is starting to become a disappointment. An insider claims that Caitlyn is talking to E!, trying to drum up promotion for her show. In the event that Caitlyn Jenner and E! will not be able to reach an agreement, Starpulse pointed out that perhaps it was time to leave reality television for good. As she has been part of Keeping up with the Kardashians for so long, maybe it would be best to live a life away from the limelight for once.
Meanwhile, Radar Online speculated that Kris Jenner may have just “sabotaged” the ratings of I am Cait Season 2. The outlet pointed out that Kris’ recent interview on Ellen may have been one of the reasons for the decrease in ratings.
Speaking to Ellen, Kris said that she found it “confusing” that Caitlyn was suddenly open to dating men. In the premiere episode of I am Cait Season 2, Caitlyn said had admitted that she does not see herself “dating women in the future.”
“It’s confusing because for as long as you know or anyone knows, he was only with women,” Ellen pointed out.
Based on this, Radar Online speculated that Kris’s “negative comments” about I am Cait may have driven the show’s ratings down.

March 19, 09:26I admit she’s still new to the scene and a year is not exactly enough for the complete transformation. For the sake of LGBT people, the show should run still.

March 19, 12:56Puh-leeze, this is long overdue. This Kardashian spinoff shouldn’t be aired especially when it is fighting against the LGBT that it claims to be promoting.
