Lizzo Dubs Her Superfans “Lizzbians” And Gay Twitter Approves

In case you missed it, the Juice singer and body-positive icon has an official suggestion for a nickname for her fans: Lizzbians, a riff on her stage name and, of course, lesbians.

Gay Twitter obviously had a field day with this Lizzo-approved message.

Lizzo herself does not identify as a member of the LGBTQ community, but her massive queer following speaks for itself. She’s appeared as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and reportedly has a long track record of standing up for the queer community.

The singer’s fans also seem to believe she is meant to play Ursula in the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

Just a week after the songstress uploaded a video on Twitter singing Poor Unfortunate Souls, decked in the villain’s full costume, one fan decided to make a Change.org petition to ensure Lizzo gets the role she deserves. The petition, and Lizzo’s video, came following news that actress Melissa McCarthy is in talks to play Ursula in the live-action remake.

“In the most self-aware statement that anyone has ever made, Lizzo has gone on record to say that Ursula would be her dream role,” the petition, which currently is almost at its 1000 signature goal, reads. “Lizzo is a big grrrrl with the rising star power and the sheer vocal ability that make her the perfect Ursula casting decision. Truth Hurts, and Disney seriously needs to rethink this casting.”

Lizzo responded to the petition, writing a simple “Omg” alongside an octopus and mermaid emoji.

    Lizzbians.

LOL. I don’t know if Lizzo has any straight male fans, but she can officially count them out of her fan base with a name like that. 😀
