‘Were you thinking about transitioning to become a male?’ Oprah quizzes Singer Charice on her dramatically different appearance
She came out as a lesbian in 2013.
And now Charice Pampengco is sparking rumours that she is undergoing gender reassignment surgery due to her altered appearance.
The 22-year-old looks set to address the issue on Sunday’s episode of Oprah Winfrey’s Where Are They Now, during which the talk show host asks the singer point blank about a possible sex change. In a teaser clip, the 60-year-old presenter asks, ‘Were you thinking about transitioning to become a male?’
But fans will have to watch Sunday’s show to find out Charice’s answer.
The star, known simply as Charice, looks a far cry from her younger, long-haired self, and sported a blonde buzz-cut and collared black shirt for her appearance on the show.
Charice found fame through YouTube, after videos of her singing garnered more than 15 million views. She appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2010 with the release of her first studio album, Charice, and was heralded by Oprah as ‘the most talented girl in the world.’
The Filipino singer became a household name after joining the cast of Glee during its second season, playing the role of exchange student, Sunshine Corazan.
Charice came out as gay last year during an interview with talk show host Boy Abunda on The Buzz.
“Yes, I am a tomboy,” she said, using Filipino slang for lesbian. “I don’t know what’s the problem with that. Because for me, there isn’t a problem with that.”
“Now, I’d like to ask for forgiveness to those who aren’t able to understand,” she said. “I just wanna say thank you personally to all my fans, to all the people who are still supporting me, who are still there for me, and honestly I am very, very happy.”
It was around this time that Charice chose to cut her hair and eschew dresses.
“I know some people are more used to the old Charice, a ballad singer with the pigtails,” Charice reportedly said at a press conference, according to EOnline. “For me, in my heart, I’ve always wanted to be more edgy, rock, more [on the] dark side. I know some people think that this is very rebellious but it’s not. It’s just me evolving. It’s me transforming into another person that is totally me.”

October 17, 07:33Naa! Hollywood likes wierd, which is why Lady Gaga is among the biggest selling artists! Cher, David Bowie and Pink are living examples.

October 17, 15:40NaH! Weird in hollywood burns out fast. You are like the flavour of the month and when a new puppet burst forward, you become old news (e.g gaga) unless you are able to reinvent urself. And pink does not fall under the wierd category if you ask me, she is just not ur typical hollywood glamour girl, I doubt if. Cher can be considered wierd either…….#justsaying

October 17, 09:14I’m all for reinventing yourself but she looks hella weird… I prefer her old look. But since it’s her voice I’m interested in she can go ahead and be a dude/rock star/what3ver. She should just sing well.
