Sleeping Next To Beauty

Sleeping Next To Beauty

Beauty is beautiful

Blessed with the true richness of an African

Glistening melanin

Thick, curly, woolly hair in a fashionable haircut

Features carved in smallness; small eyes, lips and ears and a small pointed nose.

Beauty is beautiful

Star struck with such handsomeness on our first meeting

My gut knew “foes” will not be the description of our relationship.

Warming up to each other with each passing week

We blossomed into mutual platonic friends

With little of talks, more likeness, more care and concerns.

Beauty is beautiful

The cords of our friendship strengthened into being the brother’s keeper

Always on the lookout for each other

Trading dreams in between lunch and work

A keen need for each other’s dreams to excel to fruition

And concerns for the other person’s well-being.

Beauty is handsome

Still on a platonic slab with no romantic bells ringing in the shadows,

Drew conclusions after sleeping next to each other upon two different nights

Never noticing my advances, my yearning for him

He is ruler-straight and I’m so into him

Daily painting on things I could do to that body of his

With a parched interest in his mighty rod

He will never understand the way the mould of his perfect body

Glides my heart on a merry ride

Pulsating blood flow surging through my extremities

Rushing, reaching, reacting

To a comfort I will never know.

Beauty is handsomeness that will never be mine.
