Tom Daley and husband Dustin Lance Black share the news of the arrival of their son

Olympic diver, Tom Daley, and husband, Dustin Lance Black, have shared the first pictures of their son, Robert Ray Black-Daley, on Twitter.

The black and white image shows baby Robert, named after Daley’s late father, cradled in the hands of his doting parents.

Daley and Black can be seen holding hands to protect little Robert in one shot, and in another, looking down with smiles upon their baby boy. The couple announced the birth on Saturday. Little Robert was born via a surrogate in the US on 27 June, as LGBTI Pride month was being celebrated around the world.

He has already had his name affectionately shortened to ‘Robbie’ by dad Lance, when he shared the black and white photo on Twitter.

‘Welcome to the world, little Robbie Ray. Thank you for bringing so much love and light with you,’ Black wrote alongside the photo on his Twitter account. ‘And thank you to those who helped make our dream of having a family into this wonderful reality.’

The couple have received several messages of congratulations from fans on becoming first time parents, as well as being on the receiving end of social media homophobia.
