Broadway dancer kills his boyfriend and confesses in bizarre Facebook posts
A Broadway dancer has admitted to killing his boyfriend through strangulation on August 19.
Marcus Bellamy, 32, was a dancer in New York City and a graduate of the famous dance and drama school Julliard.
Moments after murdering his boyfriend and roommate, Bernardo Almonte, in a Bronx walkup, he left a chilling confession on Facebook. “Forgive me,” he wrote on Friday after beating and strangling his partner to death. “I did it for love. I did it because I love you. He told me love and hate are the same emotion.”
Bellamy is now facing murder and manslaughter charges for killing the 27-year-old freelance IT technician. “I am God,” he wrote on his Facebook page, which is rife with Scripture verses, as well as pictures of himself shirtless and striking different dance moves. “I give life and can take it away.”
Police were alerted to the crime after Bellamy’s neighbour called them. Bellamy himself told the neighbour soon after killing Almonte. They arrested him at his apartment and say he gave himself up willingly.
Even before cops arrived, the alleged killer, standing on the sidewalk, raised his hands in the air and stared at the sky, a witness said. “The way he was standing outside, he looked like he was praying,” the witness said.
Almonte was strangled to death during an argument, though it has not been reported why they were arguing. Bellamy also bit Almonte’s shoulders during the fight, New York Daily News reports.
Bellamy identified Almonte as his partner, but refused to say anything more, police sources said. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital Saturday evening after complaining of chest pains, a source said. His arraignment was pending.
