Twitter user shows proof that Nigerians are largely hypocrites

When it comes to religion, Nigerians are very good at upholding the tenets of their different faiths. Nigerians are also very good at cherry-picking through these tenets as they suit whatever lifestyle they inhabit. The hypocrisy of the average Nigerian Christian is well known, especially when it comes to controversial issues like homosexuality.

And that was what Twitter user, @Chris_Goth set out to prove when he posted a most sarcastic righteous indignation about how the Nigerian government hasn’t done enough when it comes to marrying Church and State.

“As a Christian, I think we need laws in the country against fornication, divorce, shaving of beard, and wearing clothing from two kinds of material,” he tweeted. “People should be punished for doing all these and we would receive the blessings of God.”

Of course, while a few got the sass behind the tweet, a multitude of Nigerians swarmed in their numbers to tell @Chris_Goth exactly what nonsense he was talking.

There were those who just didn’t get it

And those who tried to make homosexuality a matter of State not of God

There were those whose prejudice has made them clueless

And those who were there to tell you to practise what you preach

There were those who are here to trace the origins of the Bible to Africa

And those who reject Christianity as an import from the West

There were those who were there to talk politics

And those who believe that ignorance is bliss

And yet those who brought church to Twitter

Humans are mostly stupid, I think that is already an established fact. As amusing as this is, it changes nothing, the blind remain blind.

  5. Gagging at how hilarious all of this is. I love these type of arguments where you lead them in and lock the door. They’ve already defended your argument with theirs lol!
