Bisexual Guy wonders what he should do when his ‘Straight’ Roommate answers his Gay Sex ad

There’s often much debate on whether straight guys are still straight when they look for gay sex. But what do you do when your self-proclaimed straight roommate, who even has a girlfriend, unknowingly answers your Criagslist sex ad? That’s exactly what happened to this guy who shared his conundrum on Reddit.

“I am bi and have messed around with guys a few times in between girlfriends,” he writes. “I have never told anyone about those experiences.”

And there comes the complication:

“Lately I wanted to try bottoming and so I posted an ad on Craigslist to see if an experienced clean top could break me in. No good replies but then the other day I get a reply from my longtime friend and roommate (who has a girlfriend that lives with us). He has no idea it’s me and I don’t know what to do. He sent an x rated pic and I liked it. Any advice?”

Of course, Redditors offered up some advice:

“Ignore it and move on. Just imagine how awkward it all gets if you do reply to him, what with the girlfriend and you all living together…”

“Why hasn’t a threesome been mentioned yet? If roommates GF was in on the fun she couldn’t get upset, right?”

“So he’s a cheater and answers to Craigslist ads? I’d think twice if I were in your shoes.”

“Yes. Cheating, while usually being an act of faithlessness, it doesn’t always have to be the horrid tragedy that people make it out to be. No, I’m not putting either side on blast. And no intention to argue mortality on the internet. But life is nothing but experiences. The OP isn’t the one cheating. Granted backlash may occur if she finds out, OP should definitely not date said guy if said exploration Is out of a lack of communication. But there’s no way we could know the full story. What if said guy is using the current female as a beard? What if she refuses to acknowledge his bisexuality? Sure the easy thing would be to break up. But life is rarely that simple. The final point: If it’s what you want to do, do it.”

“Imho, I wouldn’t reply on Craiglist, however, depending on your current relationship with him, come out to him and have a discussion with him. You have to additional knowledge that he’s bi or at least bi-curious. I wouldn’t mention that he answered your ad on Craiglist, only if he is acting weird and things go bad, you can ask him why he replied to your ad….”

“Everyone’s like ‘No! Don’t do it! Wrong!’ While yes, there’s a good chance it may end in disaster… There may literally never be another chance in your life to hookup with said person, under the same roof no less! Right. Morally, probably wrong. But if he’ll be cheating anyway, at least you can get yourself some out of it. I guess I imagine how hot it’d be so have his GF leave the house, then go bump uglies while she’s gone. Hah. Again, not the most morally high point, BUT like I said, you may not get this type of chance again. Life is all about experiences and all that.”

“You should probably talk to him about it. I know the “new rules” of millenials are to avoid any awkward situation as hard as possible and ghost immediately, but it’s better to be open about it with him than to bring it up in a drunk conversation six months from now.”
