‘The Minority Report Nigeria’ wraps up the year with a recap of all of 2018’s queerness

If Goodluck Jonathan was hoping to silence the Nigerian LGBT with the passage of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Law he passed in 2014, he failed woefully.

It’s been four years and the thrust of the LGBT unto Nigeria’s consciousness has been raging and strong. And the visibility has never been stronger for the queer identity than it was in 2018.

With this episode, the hosts of The Minority Report Nigeria recapped all the ways the LGBT conversation has featured in social issues regarding Nigerians and generally Africa at large.

From politics to representation in movies, from issues about mixed orientation marriages to Bobrisky and his antics regarding gender identity, from the shoddy governing of states like Benue State to the ridiculousness of believing in the rehabilitation of queer people, from police harassment and the abuse of human rights in Nigeria to significant court cases waged by the likes of Pamela Adie, they talk about it all.

And with the optimism that come 2019, we will QUEER BETTER.
