‘Love, Simon’ gets a spin-off, and here’s a look at the trailer
Hulu has released a first-look clip for the new series, Love, Victor, a continuation of the beloved 2018 rom-com, which follows a new student at Creekwood High School as he goes on a journey of self-discovery.
Narrated by Love, Simon star Nick Robinson, the half-hour series will star Michael Cimino alongside Ana Ortiz and James Martinez, and will premier June 19.
In the trailer, Cimino’s character, the titular Victor, applies for a barista job at his local café and things get steamy.
Literally.
Because there’s a milk-steamer involved.
The assistant manager of said café happens to be a gorgeous, lofty-haired guy who constantly says the word “tight” before milk spurts all over them.
Startled by whatever feelings he is suddenly feeling, Victor suddenly shoots out of the coffee shop and withdraws his application.
Love, Victor‘s slated debut comes after Disney+ quietly shifted the show to its sister network, Hulu. Sources alleged that Disney executives felt the show’s exploration of sexuality would not resonate well with family audiences.
Adjusting to city living, making new pals and struggling with his sexual orientation – these are some of the themes Love, Victor will platform across its 10-episode season. And it was the latter that allegedly chaffed with executives, leading to it being moved to Hulu.
Nevertheless, a writer’s room has already been drafted for a second season.
But that’s not the only addition to the Love, Simon series fans are being gifted with. Love, Creekwood will be the follow-up novella to the original book the movie was based on. Becky Albertalli, whose original novel, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, sparked the film, announced she is penning a new follow-up in late April.
