Ezra Miller on coming out: “I was told by a lot of people I’d made a mistake.”

Ezra Miller revealed people around him thought coming out as queer would be a huge mistake for the actor.

The Justice League star, who plays The Flash, said people warned him it would hurt his career and it was a ‘silly’ move.

‘I’m queer,’ Miller revealed to OUT in 2012. ‘I have a lot of really wonderful friends who are of very different sexes and genders.’

And now he claims not everyone was happy with his decision to come out, saying it might negatively impact his career.

‘I won’t specify,’ he told Shortlist. ‘[But] I was told by a lot of people I’d made a mistake… Folks in the industry, folks outside the industry. People I’ve never spoken to. They said there’s a reason so many gay, queer, gender-fluid people in Hollywood conceal their sexual identity, or their gender identity in their public image. I was told I had done a “silly” thing in… thwarting my own potential to be a leading man.’

Ezra Miller explained it was tough to hear he’d made a mistake by coming out as queer in 2012.

He said: ‘I didn’t think I’d done anything wrong, though there have been moments of doubt as a result of those conversations. But… what they said was, in fact, “rubbish”.’

Miller said it’s time to re-examine the way we treat people who just want to be themselves. He also knows a lot of people in the closet, and said it’s discouraging to see.

He not-so recently surprised everyone by planting a big kiss on a fan.

Completely out of the blue, one fan asked if the actor was drunk, to which Miller responded it would be impossible for The Flash to get inebriated because of his super fast metabolism. Then the fan asked to smell his breath and Miller gave him a kiss.

Being woke in your opinion is knowing the latest Hollywood movies in town?
Or having the movie catalogs of every d Lister?

His face looks uninteresting? I guess that’s easy for you to say while remaining anonymous. You know you don’t have to be controlled so much by failure, envy and hate. Spread love instead, it’s gonna come back to you.
