Lessons Learned From ‘She Called Me Woman’ (Entry 4)
From the chapter, ‘Focusing On Joy’, NS says:
“In all that you do, do not lose the practice of experiencing joy and creating it.”
Joy is usually found in the little things. It’s cliché but it’s true. I am a depressive, and one of the ways I find effective in combating that ailment is when I possess the little things that give me joy. Hanging out with friends whose primary objective is how much they make me laugh. Reading books so rich with humour that I cherish the moments when I turn a page and burst out into laughter over something the characters have been up to. Being a part of activities that make me feel like I’m contributing something worthwhile to the universe.
All these things, small things really, they are often my way of experiencing joy.
