‘Shut up, you old bigot’: Piers Morgan savages man who says homosexuality is a ‘sinful abomination’
Piers Morgan is usually criticised for shouting over his guests on Good Morning Britain, but recently his anger seemed totally justified.
The presenter clashed with a man who claimed homosexuality is “sinful behaviour” and an “abomination” that he can help to cure.
Dr Michael Davidson claims he “cured” himself of being a homosexual and that he had “enough” gay sex to find it was something he wanted to change in his life.
A furious Piers shouted “shut up you old bigot” during an extremely heated debate, and viewers praised the GMB host for his tough stance.
The discussion came about after undercover reporter Josh Parry, who works for the Liverpool Echo, was approached by a church where he was told prayer therapy could cure him of his gay urges. Parry was told by the Assistant Pastor at the Liverpool branch of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries that being gay is biologically wrong. It was recommended he fast for therapy to be most effective and homosexuality was “deceit of Satan” – but the church group said his comments were not mandated by the Pastor.
Journalist Parry said: “I think the overwhelming feeling I had was one of disappointment. This is happening 20 minutes from where I live in Liverpool. Our investment came out just two weeks after Liverpool celebrated our most successful pride event, which was backed by the Bishop of Liverpool.
“I think it’s offensive to be honest. More than that beyond being offensive I think it has a real genuine possibility of causing harm to people.”
Sitting next to him was Dr Davidson, who was adamant that he could cure homosexuality and said he was seeing 14 men a week.
Speaking about his own homosexual activities, Davidson said: “For me, yes, it was certainly a sinful behaviour. It is something that is an abomination in the Old Testament. I think that science is very clear, even the American Psychological Association says there’s no evidence one way or another into the effect of therapy.
“I believe people are not born gay, that they come into homosexual feelings and is something in some cases that is reversible if they want to make that trajectory in their life.”
Dr Davidson claimed there was a population group who “are not comfortable with homosexuality”, but Piers slammed them as “bigoted people who talk claptrap”.
Getting agitated, Piers shouted: “Where’s my evidence? Where’s your evidence you were born straight. Stop banging on about whacky backy science. I’m asking you a question. Prove to me that you’re straight.”
Dr Davidson answered: “I have two children. I have been with my wife for 35 years. I have left homosexual practices.”
Piers then asked how many men the doctor had had sex with, but he refused to answer, before claiming he “can be triggered” by his gay urges.
The GMB presenter added: “Shut up, you old bigot. Sorry this is ridiculous. Has it crossed your bigoted mind that people might not want to find your path and be told they need to be cured of this aberration as it’s offensive.”
Good Morning Britain viewers were furious with Dr Michael and backed Piers.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: “Wait let me get this straight. There’s a man on GMB who has had gay sex, but says being gay is an abomination and sin #GMB”
Another added: “@piersmorgan telling this idiot of a man to “just shut up!” Brilliant! #GMB”
A third said: “So nice having @piersmorgan back putting idiots like Dr Michael in his place #gmb Well said Piers”

September 07, 13:55I can’t get over the fact that he refused thinking about it cause he doesn’t want to bring up his gay urges. This is where I have problem with people, how can you be cured from something if you are still tempted by it. The book of James says that we are tempted by our own desires.
