Pulse Nightclub Survivor who claims he’s no longer gay says he went through Holy Spirit Therapy Not Gay Conversion

Luis Ruiz claims he is no longer a gay man

The Pulse nightclub survivor hit headlines when he spoke out publicly about how he is no longer gay, and is now saying he never went through “gay conversion therapy” but “Holy Spirit therapy”.

Luis Ruiz was injured in the attack which saw a gunman enter the Orlando gay club and shoot 49 people dead in 2016, including some of Ruiz’s good friends.

However his announcement was met by criticism for his alleged support of gay conversion therapy. And at the Freedom March in Washington DC last week – an event which promoted the idea that people can gain “freedom from homosexual/transgender lifestyles by the grace and power of Jesus Christ” – Ruiz said the reports about gay conversion were “fake news”.

He told The Christian Post: “Honestly, I don’t know what that is. I’ve never been through conversion therapy. I’ve been through Holy Spirit therapy. That’s the only [kind] I know. All they are trying to do is, I think, it’s lies. It’s fake people and fake news.”

While at the Freedom March – which was organised by former gay male prostitute Jeffrey McCall – Ruiz opened his speech by kneeling on the ground and asking for forgiveness for the church’s exclusion of the LGBT+ community.

He said: “I come as a pastor’s child to ask forgiveness of the church. Because we have kicked out, we have thrown [LGBT persons] out, including myself, and I want to ask [for] forgiveness, and I want to welcome the LGBTQ, I want to welcome anybody to come into the church, to come worship in a safe place.”
