What Do You Do When You Find Out The Man Interviewing You For A New Job Was The Hookup From Last Week?
Talk about power dynamics! A job seeker realized his upcoming interviewer is actually last week’s hookup, and he solicited advice from Reddit’s r/askgaybros forum.
“Hey homosexuals! Say you’re a grad fresh out of school, things go smooth, you get an interview at a big company, and the interviewer is actually that daddy from last week,” the guy wrote, specifying that the position would be a huge stepping stone.
“What would you do?” he asked. “And what would increase the chance of getting the job? Asking for a friend, obviously.”
Within its first six hours online, the post racked up more than 60 responses.
One of the most-upvoted comments advised the original poster to let the coincidence go unspoken. “Show some real class,” that commenter wrote. “Be a professional and separate work from social. Be nice, warm, engaging, and let him interview you. Don’t use the interview to flirt, keep that separate.”
Another commenter spoke from personal experience: “I’ve seen hookups in professional situations before. We are professional and just act like nothing ever happened.”
Someone else, meanwhile, said the reverse happened to him: “I saw the interviewer on Scruff a few weeks after the interview. It was actually good for me. I was able to ask what I did well on in the interview and found out why I wasn’t picked for the position.”
“I think as long as your work life and sex life don’t mix, you should be fine,” that commenter added.
Unfortunately, this particular job seeker might be screwed, so to speak. A lot of commenters expressed pessimism about the guy’s prospects. “People don’t mix work and pleasure without both going badly so he’s probably gonna shut that candidate down ASAP,” one speculated.
Moral of the story? “Don’t get your honey where you make your money,” as another dude wrote.
What about you, guys? What would you do if you found yourself in a situation where your interviewer is a hookup you’ve recently had?

November 11, 06:31Firstly, I will rush back to find evidence of the hook up – I pray to God there should be one in that evil day!
Secondly, I will be most professional during the interview but that doesnt remove the few razor sharp burning stare that I’d take at him from time to time- especially when he throws questions that puts me in a bad light !
Finally, I will definitely wait to see him after the interview to remind him what is at stake!
In this day and time, whoever says that there is no bias in recruiting process is a bad liar. So, as much as I know my gimmicks, I equally understand that sometimes you need few stepping stones to get to the top.

November 11, 07:18Blackmailing somebody you want to hire you? You’re not going to have a very long career. You’re going to spend valuable career time covering up your own crime against him and watching your back.
You’ve already shown him that you mix your private life with business.

November 11, 09:16Lol i have to laugh @ this because he just may have been objective and you may have already been shortlisted or even selected on merit. Once you show your hand that you’re willing to blackmail, (in his shoes) i will cancel you on the spot, lol… do your worst, it took 2 to tango. He has a job and probably afford a lawyer.

November 11, 07:22Be professional 100%. Whether you get the job or not you will make a great impression on the hookup that you understand work-life boundaries, are not ingratiating and ultimately dangerous to an organisation. And you never know, if there’s an opening next time, he just might make sure you’re the first to know.

November 11, 07:48What else is there to do if not be professional? Do everything right, answer your questions well, basically knock that interview out of the park. You’re interviewing for a post in a big company, not a hookup on grindr.

November 11, 08:32Abeg a lot of Nigerians are sentimental pieholes (yes, we do have those who are true professionals and know not to mix business with pleasure but they are few and inbetween), so here’s what I’ll do:
Think back to the hookup. Was it a nice experience? Nice enough to be memorable?
Or was it bland, rushed and forgettable?
Or horrible and distasteful? Was he an asshole? Was I an asshole?
Like it or not, all this comes to play and either builds or crumbles one’s confidence as the day of the interview approaches.
I do not think, and this is me being as realistic as I’ll let myself, an interviewer who had a (recent) terrible, never-to-happen-again hookup would be encouraged to give you a job.

November 11, 09:18I will be professional and definitely not bring it up except he decides to in a private convo. I will act as I would in any other interview, do my best and fingers crossed. No special treatment expected… good or bad.
