About Masturbation And All Those Unborn Babies You’re Killing
There’s this recurring myth about masturbation being genocide. Case in point, this picture below:
And it would be cute – heck, it would even be funny, if some people didn’t actually believe it.
Around 40 million sperm cells are lost in one ejaculate. And that seems like a lot of cells.
But starting with sex intended for procreation, it would mean that 1 succeeds while 39.999999 million fail. This is considered to be a success rate of 0.0000025%.
The average person has a higher likelihood of getting struck by lightning (1 in 1m), having identical quadruplets (1 in 15m), or being killed in a terrorist attack on an airline (1 in 25m) than any single sperm cell has of being the successful one that penetrates the oocyte.
However, let’s focus on masturbation.
Masturbation, like sex, leads to the production of haploid sperm cells. These cells however do not have the potential to produce offspring until they have fused with a haploid oocyte (egg) from the female to form a diploid zygote. This zygote eventually grows into the fetus.
Until then, these sperm cells are just ordinary cells. They’re not very different from the diploid skin cells which we naturally lose 50 million of everyday just by virtue of existing. They’re not very different from the intestinal/rectal cells which follow each shit we take whether we like it or not.
Now that we know this, can people please stop obsessing over when and how people come and when they don’t?
Thank you!
