James Woods slams Tim Cook for leaving heterosexual couples out of a new Apple ad

Actor James Woods is at it again, this time getting himself riled up after Apple released an advert featuring only same-sex couples.

The new ad from the tech giant is titled ‘First Dance’ and celebrates same-sex weddings. It features same-sex couples dancing at their weddings with footage shot on the iPhone X.

Apple released the ad in Australia following the legalization of same-sex marriage.

Woods claimed the ad excludes different-sex couples, tweeting that straight people were being discriminated against by Apple CEO Tim Cook. He said: “Evidently heterosexual couples didn’t make the cut in Tim Cook’s world vision of diversity.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook came out as gay in 2014, and is the most prominent out gay CEO in the world. And the tech company has been known for its support of LGBT rights around the world, signing its name to support same-sex marriage and other causes in the US, Australia and beyond.

And despite the negative reaction from Woods, many have praised Apple for the ad, which you can view below:

This is definitely not the first time Woods has made an anti-LGBT stance apparent.

Last year, Woods tweeted a transphobic message with an image of a gender-nonconforming child being supported by their parents. Woods shared a photo of a boy with his smiling, proud parents, holding signs saying: “I love my gender creative son” and “My son wears dresses and makeup, get over it.”

He captioned it with a message suggesting that the boy would grow up to be a serial killer. In further tweets, Woods defended himself, hitting out at “vile” suggestions he is homophobic, but comparing the child’s parents to child abusers.

The Ray Donovan actor also made a homophobic comment about broadcaster Anderson Cooper.

Cooper challenged White House advisor Kellyanne Conway during an interview over James Comey’s sacking, suggesting that it was linked to an FBI investigation into the President’s inner circle and ties to Russia. A number of clips were then played by Cooper of the President, then campaigning for office, back in 2016, stating praise for Comey for investigating Hillary Clinton over her email controversy.

Conway responded: “You’re conflating two things that don’t belong together. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I was on your show often last fall saying we were going to win Michigan and how we were going to do it, so that was fun.”

Cooper then gave a pretty big eye roll and continued with his line of questioning.

Woods responded with a tweet of the eye roll with the words “As his butt plug dislodges during a newscast…”

There are some haters that are not going to grey our sky this year. An ad targeting the lgbt community is criticized by Einstein for excluding non-LGBT folk. OK, I’d like to complain about perfume adverts- where is the representation for those who cant perceive odors and scents? Baba, abeg talk another thing. If your phone is not ringing as it used to or the joy in your life has logged out, it may not be the gay mafia doing you. Sometimes, one’s attitude is enough of an enemy.
