Ex-BBNaija Contender, Leo Dasilva Admonishes Gay People To “Respect People’s Sexuality”. Twitter Reacts
On Saturday January 9, former BBNaija housemate, Leo Dasilva got something off his chest when he took to Twitter to chastise (gay) people over a grievance about boundaries. Dasilva – who, in 2019, warned that couples should be sure of their partner’s sexuality before getting married – this time tweeted that people who “respect your sexuality” should have their own sexuality respected as well.
“The fact that people respect your sexuality does not give you the right to come on to them,” he tweeted. “Respect people’s sexuality as well.”
Of course, this tweet very quickly became controversial as Nigerian Twitter reacted.
After having to confront the fury of those who reacted to the homophobia in his first tweet, he had to clarify that he was referring to being harassed by homosexual affections. From his responses to some of the people who tweeted at him, it would seem as though Dasilva has found himself on the receiving end of unrelenting romantic pursuits from gay men. To someone who tweeted, “Since we don’t write our sexual orientation on our foreheads, anybody can toast anybody. Just politely decline if not interested,” he said, “It has gone pass [sic] declining politely unfortunately. Becoming harassment at this point.”
In a follow-up tweet, he showed his irritation at the backlash by tweeting, “Seems comprehension is difficult but you can’t respect the sexuality of someone you’re not familiar with. I’m not hitting on any of you so please give my quotes a rest and let me speak on boundaries amongst familiar people.”
However, in spite of the overwhelming backlash, there were those who showed their support of his tweets – and those who were willing to educate them.

January 11, 10:35My actual problem here is with queer people who “get it” and feel there this a reason to this madness. If a cis woman hit on Leo, will we see this pathetic cry for clout tweet ? No we won’t, I am sure that being the low level celebrity he is, there’s always a ton of cis women in his DM on a daily and he somehow manages to handle all that attention without our help.
So what a gay man hits on you, politely decline. He tries harder, use the damn block bottle and move on. What’s all this stupid talk about respect.
