Celebrities Who Have Faced Gay Rumors
IK OgbonnaThe button-handsome actor has had to deny the rumours that he is gay, one time as a guest at the Pulse TV studio, an interview where he turned up with his gorgeous Colombian girlfriend. He described the rumours as ridiculous and stated that he loves women with nice curves.
When the question of the gay rumours was posed to him, he said, “They say IK Ogbonna is gay? Jesus Christ! Does this guy look gay to you?” He took off his sunglasses at this point before continuing, “When I heard that one, I couldn’t stop laughing. I am still laughing. First and foremost, I have a foundation that won’t let me do certain things. I was reading a part of the bible with some people the other day – Leviticus 18: 22, and God calls it an abomination. I am not even attracted to my own self… My love for women is out of this horoscope.”
Simon CowellCowell, who has faced rumors about his sexuality throughout his career, told the author of Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell, “If I was gay, why wouldn’t I admit it? It wouldn’t harm me, and my mother wouldn’t freak out.”
Kate HudsonThe Almost Famous star said she was baffled by rumors she’d embarked on a steamy lesbian affair. “No, no, no,” she was quoted as saying. “Strictly boys for me!”
Bruno MarsRumors that the pop star had come out of the closet began after a CNN iReport – a subsection of the media outlet comprising ‘citizen journalists’ from around the world – posted a since-removed story that stated, “The famous pop-star Bruno Mars admits his homosexuality,” which caused Mars’ name to trend on Twitter. Nonetheless, Mars’ rep called the report “completely fabricated” and “false,” according to Gossip Cop.
Oprah WinfreySpeculation has swirled over the talk show queen’s long-standing kinship with TV anchor friend Gayle King for years. But as Winfrey told Barbara Walters, “I’m not even kind of a lesbian. And the reason why the rumor irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I’m lying. That’s No. 1. No. 2… Why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life.”
FlavourThe rumour mill started chugging against the Ada-Ada singer when he began posting semi unclad pictures of himself on Instagram. At some point, he was also rumoured to be fellow singer, Peter Okoye’s gay partner last year when they were pictured hanging out together.
IyanyaThe Kukere crooner is another celebrity who ignited internet gay rumours following the posting of semi nude instagram selfies. He has been called vain and gets constantly bashed as gay on the internet due to his bodily display. When a fan tweeted that he was gay against a shirtless photo of the singer, Iyanya, who clearly didn’t find it funny, lashed back by calling the fan’s father gay.
Matt Damon And Ben AffleckMatt Damon and Ben Affleck are no strangers when it comes to gay rumors. Their seemingly more-than-a-bromance had never been denied, causing people to further believe the gossip until Damon decided to speak up about it in December 2012. Damon proclaimed: “I never denied those rumors because I was offended and didn’t want to offend my friends who were gay. As if being gay were some kind of fucking disease. It put me in a weird position in that sense.”
John TravoltaMaybe it’s the “Saturday Night Fever” syndrome, but Travolta, who has been married to Kelly Preston since 1991, has been dogged by gay rumors and reports since the late 1980s. His attorney, Marty Singer, sent a five-page letter to Gawker threatening to sue over posting “false and outrageous” claims in a 2010 story the site ran in a post called “The Secret Sex Life of John Travolta.”
In 2014 Travolta responded to rumors – and a 2012 lawsuit filed by his former pilot and alleged lover – saying, “This is every celebrity’s Achilles heel. It’s just people wanting money. That’s all. It happens on many levels… Also, I don’t care that much about [those types of allegations]. Other people may attack back more than I do, but I let all the media stuff go a long time ago because I can’t control it.”
Denrele EdunDenrele has been inundated with gay rumours for nearly the extent of his career, a situation which hasn’t been helped by his controversial display of eccentricities – and those controversial photos with Charly Boy. When the subject was broached in an interview, the renowned entertainer said he would get married someday, but was currently searching for something special. “I’m aware of it. In fact, a lot of people have come with different terminologies for my sexual preference,” he said. “They have labeled me homosexual, bisexual, asexual. I think I am a sexual outlaw. That is the best way to describe it. Am I gay? I am a sexual outlaw. Gbam!”
Charly BoyCharly Boy has also been plagued with all kinds of rumours, the most common of them being that he prefers members of the same sex and that he is the head of Illuminati in Nigeria. The photos of him smooching up with Denrele Edun caused a furor on the internet and further fueled the gay rumours. He has since denied them, promising to sue the media who presents such news.
Jessie JThe British pop star, who is openly bisexual, faced allegations in an unauthorized biography that she’d been ordered to withhold the fact that she was a lesbian by her record label. “Jessie might have been with boys in the past – but she is 100 percent gay,” author Chloe Govan wrote in an excerpt of the book. “Jessie was openly lesbian and didn’t hide it.”
The singer quickly took to Twitter to deny the accusations, noting, “I’m really a lesbian?! Ha! Thanks for writing yet another boring untrue story.” Jessie discussed same-sex attraction in 2011, but in 2014 claimed her bisexuality was “just a phase.”
Jeremy RennerThe star of The Avengers blasted persistent rumors about his sexuality – as well as probes into his personal life in general. “I want my personal life to be personal, and it’s not fucking true,” Renner, 41, is quoted as saying. “And I don’t care if you’re talking about things that are true, you’re still talking about my personal life… How about I go peek in your window, take what underwear you wore last night, whose husband you were fucking, and shove that in the megaphone throughout your neighborhood? How does that feel?”
Tom CruiseDespite three high-profile opposite sex marriages, the Top Gun star has been the subject of gay speculation for years. In 2003, he won a $10 million default judgment in a case against a gay porn actor who claimed the two had an affair, and two years earlier, he sued Los Angeles-based publisher Michael Davis for $100 million after Davis claimed to have a videotape of Cruise engaged in homosexual acts. As People reported, the suit was eventually dropped, and Davis eventually stated that Cruise “is not, and never has been, homosexual and has never had a homosexual affair.”
Kelly ClarksonSpeaking with Cosmopolitan magazine for the February 2013 “Love Issue,” Clarkson addressed gay rumors that have followed her throughout her career, saying she thinks speculation grew because she hadn’t been dating anyone for a while.
“People think, ‘Oh, she’s been single for too long,'” the singer, who is now married with kids, said. “That’s kind of an insult to the gay community. Being single doesn’t mean you’re gay. But I’m never insulted by it, obviously. I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh, my god, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck. But it’s just not my thing.”
George ClooneyAfter Esquire uncovered a website that referred to the Oscar-winning hunk as “gay, gay, gay,” the good-natured actor quipped, “No, I’m gay, gay. The third gay – that was pushing it.”
The ‘Gossip’ GuysTabloid speculation over the button-handsome young stars of Gossip Girl has been rampant, particularly given the fact that Chace Crawford (right) and Ed Westwick (middle) were roommates for some time, according to New York Magazine. Westwick later blasted the rumors, saying, “It’s funny because I love this fucking dude dearly. I would die for this fucking dude. He’s my brother. But, by God, we are so into our fucking women, it’s ridiculous.”
Benson OkonkwoRumours of the actor’s sexuality have been running rampant in the entertainment industry for awhile, rumours that gained strength when he was starred in the gay movie, One Dollar. Unperturbed by the outrage caused by the role, the Enugu State-born actor went on to appear in other gay roles in movies such as Pregnant Hawker and The Strippers.
In a 2013 interview with Punch, the actor spoke about his choice of acting roles and the gay rumours they set off. “Although these movies sparked off controversy about my sexuality, I make bold to say that Nigerians are hypocrites. They secretly enjoy watching porn movies, yet when they see Nigerian movies that contain suggestive scenes, they secretly watch them online and then drop anonymous comments. I am only acting and doing my job.
“Although I have acted as a homosexual three times, I am afraid of being tagged a stereotyped actor. Despite the fact that the gay controversy has brought me fame, I want people to remember that I have not starred in only gay or adult films. Contrary to what some persons think, I have never been sexually harassed by homosexuals. I am not a homosexual.”
Zac EfronCelebrity blogger Perez Hilton has made no secret of his admiration for the High School Musical star, while other gossip sites have openly speculated about Efron’s sexuality. Still, Efron has laughed it off: “I know it’s very addictive to read that kind of stuff. It’s entertainment. Honestly, if the worst [Perez Hilton] can say about me is that I’m gay, then I think I’ll be fine. I can handle it.”
Alicia KeysThe singer-songwriter acknowledges why many thought she was a lesbian shortly after her Grammy Award-winning debut: “I was definitely rough around the edges. I look back at certain interviews and I’m like, ‘Damn! Did I have to look that hard? Did I have to do my hair that way?’

I met him in airport last year, after so many stares he decided to run away.
Btw am not racist, but I have found when it comes to sexuality, igbo guys are mostly dl, confused or in denial!
*pls I dnt mean to insult them, its just what I have found out over the years.
Max
September 25, 09:56@Ken, I concur with you. Igbo guys have the worst internalized homophobia I’ve seen. Its no wonder I’ve never dated an Igbo person before. Yorubas on the other hand have a loose/weak sense of morality which tend to decrease their internalized homophobia.
Tiercel de Claron
September 25, 10:26Wait a moment, you say you haven’t dated an Igbo guy before?.No wonder you’ve missed out on a lot.
Pink Panther
September 25, 11:36Lol. TDC, there’s something he’s missing in not dating an Igbo guy?
Tiercel de Claron
September 26, 00:47Of course,Pink.
He’s missed out on a lot.Take that from one who’s dated from five ethnic groups.
Pink Panther
September 26, 01:07Five ethnic groups, huh? Talk about being a different kind of minister of tourism.
Tiercel de Claron
September 25, 10:03You’re no racist,but a tribalist.Same diff.
DL,confused,in denial…….doesn’t that speak for a large majority of gay Nigerians,Hausa/Igbo/Yoruba/Igede and the like?
Max
September 25, 10:05Lol. Those things don’t describe me. I’m Igbo btw.

September 25, 10:22Responded to Ken,not you Max.
I know who you are and where you are from.
ken
September 25, 12:38Theres no need to be overly defensive and portray urself as a hypocrite.
Max re-echoed exactly what I said. Just becos he is igbo u choose to pretend u didnt get it.
Btw igbo guys are not the only ones with internalised homophobia. Its just that I havent met any igbo who is not afflicted with these traits. I keep wondering whats the cause….how can an entire tribe be like that. like dating an igbo guy is practically a waste of time cos he will forever keep struggling with sexuality and eventually u get dumped or worse
Pink Panther
September 25, 15:21Hian! I know a bunch of my Igbo brothers who are perfectly fine with their sexuality o. Myself included. 😀
Keredim
September 25, 16:42“Btw igbo guys are not the only ones with internalised homophobia. Its just that I havent met any igbo who is not afflicted with these traits….”
Maybe there is something about you, that triggers the affliction when you meet them…?

September 25, 10:20nah … the internalized homophobia is like salt scattered over the land; it has permeated and flavoured the entire country; there’s hardly any inch of this land where Homophobia and its twin internalized homophobia aren’t alive and thriving …
Colossus
September 25, 18:50You’re still peddling this? After how many years you’re still peddling the story of igbo men having internalised homophobia? I think it’s time you furnish us with the proper statistics on how you carried out this research.

September 25, 06:29I completely agree with McGray I mean Uti and Alex’ friendship (so they call it) says everything. The need to defend ur straightness to me I some how ridiculous. I mean if u are straight u need not flash a girlfriend in an attempt to debunk the rumors. So are so scared of being exposed they even get into contract marriages buh who are we fooling.. Nothing is hidden under the sun u know. Pls if I may, some of them there are not rumored gay and we know it. Ama sit back, relax and wait for the day the drama will unfold with hope that I will be interested then.
ken
September 25, 06:33I believe one day being gay will not be synonymous with “evil” “bad” “abomination” etc. And people will not be ashamed of their sexuality
Pink Panther
September 25, 06:33Amen!!!

September 25, 06:56Ken once there still exist all of them self acclaimed righteous pricks who believe they are carrying out the ultimate mission. Well AMEN TO THAT.

September 25, 09:52Let’s not kid ourselves, some people in this post are actually gay, starting from the first pic.
I hate the phrase “gay partner”. It reduces homosexuality to merely a sexual urge/act. Its annoying and silly and shouldn’t be used to describe two people in a relationship.
Once people hear homosexuality, all they think about is sex sex sex and this ” gay partner” phrase doesn’t help matters.
Teflondon
September 25, 10:12Talking abt homosexuality and the talk of it being just abt sex, sex, sex! I actually met someone that was gay and didn’t believe in or ever engage in gay sex in all his life. I never knew such people truly existed. I’ve heard stories yes! But didn’t beleive. They are rare to find around, let’s just say they are scarce beings and an endangered species.
Furtunely or unfortunately depending on your view on things; lets just say there are one less short of these endangered species after our encounter.

September 25, 10:13Pinky dis one u suddenly develop interest in drinking tea with Santa….hmmmmmm *luks at u suspiciously*
Pink Panther
September 25, 11:37Ehen? What now come and happun, eh McGray? *setting together tea things* Santa duhling, I’m waiting. 🙂

September 25, 10:17We should consider ourselves celebrities really! Why is the talk and news of being gay such a big thing the world over. The world should keep calm.. We are normal beings just like everyone else. I’m afraid Being Gay is becoming over-rated.
I’ve done my fair share of celebrity hunting. 3 down, 2 more to go and I’ll mark that off my bucket list.
Bret Hart
September 25, 17:38As much as I’m for acceptance……I don’t think if I’m a celebrity as such(in nigeria)I’ll admit being gay.. . But I’ll definitely not deny it…….there are some celebrities who have really done well enough in keeping their personal life off the tabloids to some extent e.g genevieve …..it’s a don’t ask don’t tell thingy…..and if you do bother to ask I’ll still maintain my don’t tell……..but another problem lies with our fellow rainbow republicans who seem to have diarrhea of the mouth and seem to spew shits they’ve done or not…..
O.A.N…..
I don’t see reasons why someone has to through a “come-out ” party or hold a “come-out” conference. …I’ve not seen straights do such…….but again it has its merits too
KingBey
September 26, 07:25What the fuck does Benson mean by he’s not gay? After inviting me to Enugu back in 2010 during my NYSC for a fuck session? I couldn’t make it…..reasons: He claimed Top and I didn’t see myself going down for a Top that acts femme, and then the distance…I was serving in the North. Nigerians can pretend eeehhhnnn !!! Who cares anyways, I don’t even like them celebrities. They have too much drama. Maybe tomorrow now, Zubby Michael’s will also deny being Gay after telling me ges Verse. I shall return to my tea. Smdh
Pink Panther
September 26, 07:26Zubby Michael? Who is Zubby Michael? *off to google Zubby Michael*
