Jennifer Aniston Will Play the President of the United States and Tig Notaro Will Play Her Wife in New Movie

Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Jennifer Aniston is set to star in a new Netflix movie in which she’ll play POTUS, the President of the United States. The comedy film will be helmed by One Mississippi star Tig Notaro, who will also play FLOTUS, Aniston’s wife. Yes, there are two lesbian moms shacking up in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and thus, the movie is aptly titled First Ladies.

According to THR, the political comedy follows “Beverly and Kasey Nicholson, America’s first female President and her wife, the First Lady, in a story that promises to show that behind every great woman is another great woman.”

Notaro and her wife, Stephanie Allynne, will write the feature film. The duo, along with the powerful team of Aniston, Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Betsy Koch are set to produce the comedy.

This is great news for Tig fans, as the writer’s groundbreaking Amazon show One Mississippi was cancelled earlier this year. The out lesbian comedian continues to create queer-centric comedy, not only providing avid representation to queer women on-screen, but also doing it well. Her signature style is a brooding mix of laugh-out-loud cackles blended with gutting heartbreak.

First Ladies surely comes as a response to the results of the 2016 election, and marginalized people’s fury with the current administration—a lesbian-lash, if you will—and I’m sure this film will feature Tig’s signature dramedy beat.
