Johnny Depp might be Dumbledore’s gay love interest in upcoming Harry Potter spin-off

Johnny Depp has been cast in Harry Potter spin-off series Fantastic Beasts, and speculation is rife that he is playing dark wizard Grindelwald.

Film series, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, starring Eddie Redmayne, is set in the same universe as the Harry Potter films but takes place decades before in 1920s New York.

Ahead of the release of the first film later this month, JK Rowling confirmed that the five-movie series will explore more of the relationship between beloved Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore and dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. Rowling famously revealed Dumbledore is gay following the publication of the last Harry Potter book, after hints about his relationship with Grindelwald.

It was announced this week that Johnny Depp has been cast in Fantastic Beasts 2 – leaving fans to guess about his character’s identity. Speculation is underway, and all the evidence points in one direction, as eagle-eyed Potter fans linked Depp’s real-life haircut to a brief glimpse of Grindelwald from behind in a trailer for the first film.tweet

To add fuel to the fire, Warner Bros just so happened to release a clip this week featuring Ezra Miller explaining the backstory for Grindelwald.

Miller hints: “Think about it… Fantastic Beasts takes place in 1926, which is around when Grindelwald was beginning his attacks across Europe, which might be connected – might not be connected, but might be connected to Grindelwald’s rise to power?”

Ezra Miller is one of a number of actors whose roles are shrouded in mystery, alongside Colin Farrell, who is playing a character known as Graves.

It’s unclear if Albus Dumbledore has been cast.

The setting of the film rules out the return of many other fan favourites from the Potter franchise aside from Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

Was there even a fight? No, I am asking o.??
The book clearly made out a battle of epic proportions, so much so, that the ground heated up and cracked. It was ONLY dwarfed by the fights in the Department of Mystries and probably the fight btwn Minerva n Snape.

You are seriously asking? Cut scenes, triviliazed roles of major xters…IMO, movie adaptations are meant to make u want to read their books not make u happy and complacent u saw it play out

Wait, did you honestly expect the movies to have everything the books had? Come on. If you were disappointed based on these reasons you gave, then you hadn’t been watching much movie adaptations before you started on the Harry Potter franchise.

I thought I was the only one who noticed!! Priori incantatem!! Ugh!!!

And sometimes the killing curse is blue instead of green. Like I was so confused. And the bit with him falling with voldemort in the last film. So many things were so wrong. Can’t even deal.

At least there are no real books for them to mess things up for this series.

All of you that are complaining about the mess that was made of the HP movies should goan sit down please. Harry Potter is one of the best movie adaptations of a book. Imagine having to adapt all those chapters and pages of each book into a single movie. The producers and directors did really well biko. And having Deathly Hallows as a two part movie was just plain genius. Obviously Twilight set the trail on that path.

Oh Gosh Pinky you almost made me google the word ‘homosexual’. Its a gender neutral term and confusing in that context above.
