In one of his entries, Dennis Macaulay stated categorically that he cannot stay friends with his exes; according to him, once the relationship is over, he’s done with the ex.

Someone like me, on the other hand, cannot wrap my head around how I can suddenly cut off from he who I’ve once loved or shared much intimacy with. I have had exactly four serious relationships in my life, and with the exception of my last boyfriend, I have stayed friends with all my exes. Perhaps, I’m able to retain my friendship with these guys because none of the breakups were rancorous.

But someone like Dennis says he doesn’t care the circumstance of the breakup: once done is done.

But hey, that’s just the two of us. What about y’all? Could you be friends with your ex?

I use to be of the opinion that I can be friends with my ex but right now, my relationship with two of them is damaged and this could have been avoided if I had moved on from them completely. So I think you can be friends but it’s best to keep them at arm’s length and avoid sex with them completely…any form of sex at all.

It depends on how acrimonious the breakup was. For me, it’s no big deal. I only had one boyfriend and we are still in good terms. I now see him as an elder brother, so no chance of us ever having sex again.

I stay friends with my exes. Depending on the nature of the breakup I think the sudden hatred could be immature.
