The Equality Hub Launches The EhTV Network, Nigeria’s First Streaming Service. And It’s Queer!

The Equality Hub’s executive director, Pamela Adie, has always spoken highly of storytelling as a tool for LGBT advocacy in Nigeria. And now, the organisation has taken a major step in solidifying the presence of queer stories in the Nigerian mediascape.

The Equality Hub announced on Thursday, October 29, the launch of EhTV Network, Nigeria’s first digital streaming platform which it says will be “dedicated to amplifying Nigerian LGBTQ-related content.”

In a statement to accompany this launch, The Equality Hub recognizes that the platform will be “a home for Nigerian movies, documentaries, web series, and podcasts that center Nigerian LGBTQ+ stories told by Nigerian storytellers and creatives” and that all content will be “available to viewers worldwide and can be accessed through your desktop, laptop, phone or any other mobile device by visiting www.ehtvnetwork.com.”

While making the announcement, Executive Director Adie said, “It brings us great joy to be able to launch this platform. We know how difficult it can be for Nigerian LGBTQ content to find a home in Nigeria, so we’re very excited to build this home for our community and to help us archive our stories and broaden our reach. We’re particularly excited that Under The Rainbow is finally now available for viewing on our platform. We hope Nigerian creatives and change-makers who have LGBTQ-related content will join us on this journey of using storytelling as a tool for social inclusion of LGBTQ people in Nigeria.”

EhTV also welcomes partnerships with Nigerian creatives to produce more content in the near future. To partner with them, you may send an email to contact@theequalityhub.com.
