WE ARE HERE: THE HUNT

I met Boos and narrated everything that happened the previous night to her. Her reaction was legendary. She was furious. She took out her phone, placed a call to Black and ordered him to call her back immediately. Then she asked me to go home, get some sleep and she’d come to see me after the exam she had that morning. Apparently, there’d been a shooting in her area the same night before, and so everyone living in that area was being very cautious. I’d originally intended to stay over at her place and not go back home to scare Delle or give him a case of the hysterics, but with the goings-on in that part of school, we decided it was in my best interest to return to my house inside the school.
On getting home, Delle did a hot water massage on my body because I was all shades of broken and messed up from my ordeal. As we were talking about what happened, another friend of ours, Abeeboi, came to the house to pick a few things he needed for the exam he had that day. After we had talked about how horrible everything that happened was, he left for school to write his exam. I tried to get some rest as I needed to get to the hospital later that day to see the doctor I’d been referred to by the SFH.
On my way back from the hospital, I met Black on the way. He asked me how I was and apologized to me again about what had happened, saying he’d find a way to get my phone back to me. Later that night, a few minutes past 9, Boos came to my house to see how I was doing. She called Black again to berate him about my phone and he said he was on it.
We were talking when we heard a knock on the door. It was a few minutes past 11 pm this time, much too late for anyone to be calling on me. Delle went to check who was at the door. It was Abeeboi. He walked into the room with a very strange and confounded expression on his face, like something incredulous had happened and he still hadn’t come to grips with it. When he sat down, he told us the most startling thing.
He’d been attacked in his room by Herod, Cross and another guy!
Apparently, Herod shared some courses with Abeeboi and as they had an exam the next day being Tuesday, he came to Abeeboi’s house to get some materials from him to read. Only he came with the other two and they assaulted Abeeboi in his room. They flogged him with a mop stick, threatened to cut his fingers off with a knife if he didn’t give them his ATM pins, took his phone and wanted to take his laptop. They showed him my phone and a WhatsApp chat where he was inviting me to his place so we could have sex. Abeeboi and I have never gotten up to anything even remotely sexual; we don’t even talk about that. And another fact is, Abeeboi and I last chatted in January and the chat they showed him was barely two weeks old. They also showed him some gay porn videos in my phone (porn I distinctly remember deleting). In the end, they took the little cash he had on him. They also asked him about Rhean and Sage and he said he didn’t know them (which was true). They also mentioned our SFH WhatsApp group and another friend of mine, Moe.
When he took off his shirt, we saw that Abeeboi’s back was marked with welts of various sizes, ugly bruises that brought tears to my eyes. Delle swiftly turned into doctor mode as he made hot water compresses for his body. Then he placed a call through to Peaches (he is the head of our SFH group) to alert him to what was happening. When Peaches answered Delle’s call, he sounded distraught. Even then, Delle instructed him to delete everyone from the group and close the group.
A few minutes later, Peaches called back with shocking news of his own. He too had been attacked that night.
He was on his way back home with a friend when they were accosted by two armed guys. He was hit on the head with the butt of a gun and his bag was snatched from him. Luckily, his phone was in his pocket. His friend didn’t fare too well as he was beaten and his phone and money taken from him.
At this point, it became clear that this was no longer the ordinary random attack I thought it was. Perhaps it had started out that way with me, but it had clearly become a witch hunt perpetrated by homophobic jackasses.
Boos had gotten inflamed by this time and angrily called Black again, but his phone was switched off. We couldn’t get through to Sage or Zara to know if they were safe. Altogether, that night was a really bad one for us as we barely got any sleep, preoccupied as our minds were with the welfare of our friends.
Early the next morning, as I saw Boos and Abeeboi off, Boos suggested that we report the issue to the school’s Chief of Security. By ‘we’, she meant those of us under attack; she couldn’t afford to get directly involved, because her cousin was once the head of the same cult which these boys belonged to and she was still very good friends with their current leader. Abeeboi, on his part, had a plan to meet his HOD and the lecturer whose course they had that day to either prevail on them to stop Herod from writing that course or even get him locked up by the school’s security so he’d return his stolen items.
When Abeeboi got to school, he met his HOD and told him what happened. The man asked him for Herod’s real name and told Abeeboi to wait for him as he’d definitely take action on the case. When Abeeboi left the HOD’s office, he came face to face with Herod, and as though he had an inkling of what Abeeboi was up to, he began apologizing to him about what happened the night before, telling Abeeboi that he even helped him by not allowing the others take his laptop. He also said that they were not even done with ME yet. He was also using MY phone.
When he was done talking, Abeeboi met a coursemate of his and collected his phone. Then he went back to Herod and got him to repeat everything he’d just told him, including how they weren’t done with me. Then Herod let spill a part we didn’t know.
Apparently, before they attacked Abeeboi, they’d gone to Rhean’s room and given him the same treatment. They flogged him with his broom and then his mop stick, took his phone, a pair of his shoes, his Play Station and his generator, as well as the money he had in his room and his ATM card and his pin, proceeding to withdraw everything he had in his account. One of them – the same short, ancient imp that threatened to cut Abeeboi’s fingers off if he didn’t surrender his ATM pin – used the broken mop handle to hit one of Rhean’s fingers till it was practically twice its size.
Later on that day, in the afternoon, Sage and Zara were attacked (a second time for Sage) at Sage’s lodge when they went to pick some books they needed for their exams. Cross and some others in the lodge, including the caretaker of the lodge, began to beat Sage. Zara picked a palm branch to chase them away from Sage, prompting them to start chasing him. It was absolute chaos as they kept screaming “homo” as they pursued Zara throughout that entire area. Sage, in that moment of reprieve, hid in the house of a trader whose shop adjoined her residence. His assailants returned and tried to get Sage but the woman barred them from entering.
And so, it was that the attacks had become the talk of the entire school. Virtually everyone now knew about the terror stalking us.
TO BE CONTINUED.

April 14, 05:33This is bad. Real bad. I am still trying to come to terms with this whole thing. How do these guys think? Don’t they have better and more productive things to do with their time.
See, we cannot always be the victims here. There’s got to be a way to fight back; If these animals have become organized and calculative, we can do even more.
We need to keep ourselves and our friends safe.
I am waiting to hear how it all ends. And I am willing to take up arms if need be.
Mitch
April 14, 20:03My dear, it was as surprising to me as it is to you. As for the fighting, I’ll be sure to reach you when it comes to that.

April 14, 20:10My school has officially become a jungle. What would you expect from a school where students kill each other in the name of cult wars?

April 14, 08:17This is beginning to sound like a case of ’cause and effect’. I am beginning to wonder which member of ur SFH is a snitch, or botched a ‘conversion’ attempt or whose IH is more than the sense God gave him as an idiot.
Pink Panther
April 14, 08:43Wouldn’t they start from that SFH member instead of randomly picking out Mitch? Sometimes animals don’t need an excuse to be animals, as is evident here.
ambivalentone
April 14, 09:51And if that person were the snitch? While I agree animals do not need any reason to be animals, these guys’ efforts were just too concerted and planned to be random. Something stinks, and very badly too

April 14, 20:16Ambi, you know, we had this same thought. It was unbecomingly suspicious how they were targeting all of us at once. We even had a suspect.
But, at the end of the day, it was all just bad coincidences. There actually was neither mole nor snitch. I pretty much have been a target in school because I don’t give a shit what people think about me ad I always finish those that come for me. Possibly, they saw this as their chance for revenge but they took it much too far.

But I honestly do not know how to take the initiative on this issue. Sadly.

April 14, 09:03How on earth did this kind of malicious concerted effort to humiliate and attack us become our portion in this country? Goddamnit!!!!! This is very upsetting.
Are our LGBT NGOs reading this? Shouldn’t we add paying back these gay bashers in their own coin to the list of things we are doing as a community to better our lives? This is just insane.
Mitch
April 14, 20:37Adding payback to the list of our endeavors is most necessary. Some things just shouldn’t be swallowed. Still, the story continues……

April 14, 12:48Mehn, this is some crazy shit. I really cannot imagine this happening to me in school especially in my lodge, where I’m supposed to feel safe.
I wish they had people to stand up for them and really fight back. But hearing as some of them could be cultist, involving the police could even make matters worse for the guys who are being victimized.
I am so sorry guys. Is this is happening in Unizik?
