Sarah Jessica Parker says Kim Cattrall said “things that were really hurtful”
Sarah Jessica Parker has spoken out about her public feud with Kim Cattrall.
The pair have been squabbling since Cattrall refused to reprise her role as Samantha Jones in Sex and the City 3. Their back and forth in the press culminated in Cattrall telling Piers Morgan she was “never friends” with her co-stars and branding their relationship as “toxic”. Cattrall also shocked fans last week when she blasted Parker on Instagram, accusing her of “exploiting” the tragedy of her brother’s death to restore her “‘nice girl’ persona.”
In a new interview with People magazine, SJP has insisted that there is “no fight” going on between them.
She said: “I never talked about it, except [to say] that some of us were disappointed [about the movie not happening]. But I never responded to the conversation Kim had with Piers Morgan, where she said things that were really hurtful about me.
“We had this experience and it was amazing, and nothing will ever be like it. We had a connection with an audience, and we had a connection with the city and with this crew, and we got to tell these crazy stories with each other. So I don’t want to mess with that.”
She continued: “I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing that part. So there was no fight; it was completely fabricated, because I actually never responded. And I won’t, because she needed to say what she needed to say, and that is her privilege.”
Following Cattrall’s shocking remarks on Instagram, Parker’s longtime friend and Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen jumped to her defence, saying during his Radio Andy show that he was so taken aback by Cattrall’s post that he initially thought it was “fake”.
“I was like, ‘There’s no way Kim Cattrall has posted this on her Instagram.’ This is a woman who is in the middle of grieving the loss of her brother, which is tragic and sad,” he said.
“She accused SJP of exploiting a tragedy… She follows Kim on Instagram, Kim posted about her brother dying, and she expressed her condolences on the post… She posted it in a comment! I would not call that ‘exploiting a tragedy’. What was she supposed to say? Say something bad? I mean, I don’t understand. I also don’t like it that people are characterizing this as a catfight. There’s only one person fighting here.”
The Watch What Happens Live host continued: “Sarah only said the nicest things about her. The only thing she’s ever commented about the movie or about Kim not wanting to do the movie was that she was disappointed that the studio pulled the plug on it. I don’t get it. It’s a cat fight of one from where I see it.”

February 17, 10:53Why do I suspect strongly that SJP is merely giving us the gloss while Kim is giving us the nitty gritty. What I’d give to have Ryan Murphy give this feud a shot in his Feud series.

February 28, 08:36Its simple, SJP wants SATC back at all cost – with or without Kim (she’s said this more than once) and Kim C sees this as a betrayal. Its sad the studio overrates SJP over them all. But Kim can be more diplomatic and less angry. You all are hurting fans too @SJP
