Gay Porn Stars Share Their Coming Out Stories On A NakedSword Mini-Documentary

NakedSword assembled some gay porn stars to discuss their coming out stories in a new mini-documentary called PRIDE: Pornstar Coming Out Stories. Among the porn stars who shared their stories were GayVN’s Performer of the Year 2020, Cade Maddox, Skyy Knox, Adam Ramzi, August Alexander, Beaux Banks, Josh Moore, Max Konnor, Zario Travezz and Sean Zevran.

Their stories varied and showed a reflection of the encounters everyone else may have gone through when they came out. Some, like Skyy Knox, had it easy. The Falcon exclusive performer revealed that he was “born out”.

“I have been gay my entire life, since I was a child,” he said. “My mom would tell me stories of us in the mall, and I would point at a beautiful man and say, ‘He’s pretty, mommy.’ Then she realized quickly that I was gay, and bought me toys that I would want to play with. I played with barbies. I had plastic heels. I had pearls. I played with my mom’s closet. Even my brother knew and supported me.”

And then, there are those who had the worst possible coming out story you could imagine, like Zario Travezz, who suffered an emotional badgering from his father.

“…It was tough. It wasn’t easy by any means,” he shared. “One night, I finally just told him. I was like, ‘Dad, the reason why I don’t have a girlfriend is because I’m gay.’ And he was like, ‘What!’ There was, like, an awkward pause. And he was like, ‘What do you mean you’re gay? You mean you’re a faggot? What do you mean?’ And I was like, ‘No, dad, I’ve always been gay. I’m not a faggot.’ He took it so wrong. Like, he called me ‘faggot’, ‘dick sucker’ – you know, he mentioned everything about the bible, Sodom and Gomorrah… Every terrible thing you think that a parent should never say to their child, he said it. And even though I’ve forgiven him for that – and I talk to him every once in a while – he did a lot of damage to me, emotionally.”

Another performer who had a rough time with his coming out to his father was Adam Ramzi. When he told his father, the porn star said he “got real quiet and then said, ‘Just put a bullet in my head.’”

Ramzi went on to say, “It really, really hurt to hear those words of course, but we continued the conversation. And he just burst into tears, and I realized that he wasn’t saying these words out of hate. He was saying them out of fear. Essentially, what he was saying was, ‘I love you so much. I don’t know where to put it or what to do with it and how to use that love to protect you from this cruel world where homosexuality is not understood.’”

Ramzi also had to come out to himself. He revealed that he was not out to himself “for a really long time because I was scared of what it meant to commit to actually calling yourself gay. So even when I dated the first man that I dated, I still thought that afterwards, I was eventually going to meet a girl and get married, because that was what men did. But once I realized it wasn’t going away, I decided it was time to at least tell my mother. … She was really happy for me; it was really great to get that kind of support.”

Then there were those who were outed, as was the case with Josh Moore, who went to a club with his brother and sister, and got confronted right in the presence of his siblings by the scorned boyfriend of a guy he’d been seeing.

“…He was there with his boyfriend, which I didn’t know about,” Moore said. “His boyfriend comes running up to me, obviously had found out what’s going on. And was like, ‘You’ve been fucking my boyfriend!’ Right in front of my brother and sister! I wanted the ground to swallow me whole. So yeah, that was how I didn’t come out. I was outed.”

Cade Maddox was also outed, by family members. He revealed that he’d been “messaging this dude on MySpace. It was right around the time I was graduating high school.”

“And my sister went into my room, got on my computer, saw my MySpace messages,” he said. “So I was taking my mom somewhere one day, and she was like, ‘Are you gay?’ Because I was taken aback by the question, I think my answer was, ‘No, I’m bisexual.’ It was just easier to say, I think, at the time, to admit to her and myself. At the time, I was kinda mad because of the invasion of privacy. But at the same time, it was kind of like a relief, something of my chest. For me, my main things were my family and having my family’s support. So, once they knew and I had their support, I was like then, ‘Well, fuck anybody else. I don’t care.’ It was a weight off my shoulders.”
