Bisexual actress Amber Heard denies blackmailing Johnny Depp in ongoing divorce
Bisexual actress Amber Heard is denying that she has made up allegations of domestic violence against estranged husband Johnny Depp in order to get a big divorce pay day.
Heard, who met Depp when they filmed The Rum Diaries together, was granted a restraining order last week. Heard has a bruised eye in a photo accompanying the restraining order and claims Depp smashed his phone into her face during an attack that took place on 21 May, according to TMZ.
Depp’s friend Doug Stanhope publicly accused Heard of ‘threatening to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her terms. Blackmail is what I would imagine other people might put it, including the manner in which he is now being vilified.’
Peter Sample, a lawyer for Heard, has responded in a letter to The Wrap stating ‘allegations against Ms. Heard are absolutely and unequivocally false.’ He said the claim of blackmail ‘has no basis in reality and is nothing but the typical celebrity muckraking for profit.’
The couple had been married less than 15 months when Heard filed for divorce a week ago claiming irreconcilable differences. Depp’s mother had died just days before the divorce filing. The actress had called police and claims her husband offered her hush money to keep the incident quiet.
The personal drama is taking place as Depp has a new film out. He plays Mad Hatter in Alice Through the Looking Glass, a sequel to Alice in Wonderland. The film has a $170 million production budget and opened to a lower-than-expected $34 million in the US over the Memorial Day weekend.
