“I see scared people and comfortable people.” Jaden Smith Not Bothered By Gender Divide

Jaden Smith is really coming into his own as a fashion icon. The 17-year-old’s already got a Louis Vuitton campaign under his belt, which is holding up a gorgeous skirt or dress. In the latest issue of GQ Style, Smith talks about just how unbothered he is by this whole gender divide thing:

“I feel like people are kind of confused about gender norms. I feel like people don’t really get it. I’m not saying that I get it, I’m just saying that I’ve never seen any distinction. I don’t see man clothes and woman clothes, I just see scared people and comfortable people.”

Jaden Smith 06Smith’s gender-defying taste in fashion is a statement equally personal and generational—a recent study found that only 44 percent of teens buy clothes specifically designed for their gender.

Also of note, Jaden sees his Chanel-clad little sis Willow as his female doppelganger, and vice versa:

“I’d say it’s like full-on sibling brain connection. I’d say that she’s definitely the female version of me, one hundred percent, in every single way. And I’d say I’m the male version of her.”
