At What Point Does A Person Stop Being “Bi-curious” And Just Becomes Bisexual?

There’s been a lot of talk about bisexuality, bicuriousity and hereoflexibility. A wife once wrote to advice columnist Coleen Nolan about her husband who she claims got drunk and hooked up with not one but two separate guys on a boys’ trip.

“He confessed that he’d got drunk and slept with another man, blaming the fact that he was ‘so out of it,’” she said, adding that he described the encounters as “just a bunch of stuff that happened.”

Then, Australian TV personality Osher Günsberg, a.k.a. Andrew G., gave a radio interview in which he talked about hooking up with guys in his 20s. The 42-year-old, who is happily engaged to a woman, compared taking a dip in the man pond to going to an amusement park, saying, “You’ve got to go on all the rides at Dreamworld before you find the one you want to stay on all day.”

Günsberg also admitted to “pashing” at least “a bloke or two” in his younger years.

While all this is very fun and incredibly interesting, it raises a legitimate question: How many times can someone who identifies as “straight” or “bi-curious” have gay sex before they’re officially just “bisexual”? Do labels even matter anymore?

  1. Shouldn’t the third try be the clincher? Just makes me wonder about all these gay-for-pay ppl. You wouldn’t keep doing it if you didn’t LIKE it. I mean if offered money to have sex with animals, I am sure they’d decline

    1. Guy, u already know where u want to place your date on ur 1st outing and the feeling isn’t necessarily mutual

So, u like money? I imagine the kind of things you’d do over and over to get it *shudders*

  2. 1. There’s nothing called gay sex. They had sex with men.

    2. I don’t have to like something to do it for the money. I like/need the money, that’s why I do it.

    3. From the point above, being gay is all about having sex with men. It should also apply that after 3 dates, 2 individuals should become a couple.

  3. When your curiosity has crossed over from a want to a need, when you find yourself no longer detached in your interest in the same sex but now yearning for them, then you’re no longer bicurious. Just park well somewhere with your bisexual membership card.

  4. We argue “being gay is much more than sex” to anyone and everyone but when someone who isn’t gay have sex with the same-sex, we suddenly throw out the defense and want to give them a label.

TBh we really need to revisit how we define our sexuality. Is it just being able to get it up for other men or much more?

  5. we can’t really have an answer to this until all homophobia and stigma associated with homosexuality is gone. as long as homosexuality has the negative connotation in society, too many people will remain reluctant to identify as such as long as they can get away with it and it will remain tricky to figure out people’s motives for choosing not to identify is gay or bi even when the signs point that way.

so ask again in 200 years maybe?
