Jim Walker had it all. He was in his early 40s, healthy, and at the peak of his career in journalism, having worked in broadcasting and live breaking news for more than 20 years, with two regional Emmy nominations under his belt plus countless other awards.
And then it all came crashing down.
First, his partner died. As a result, Walker began having financial problems. His health started to decline. Then one day out of the blue, he was told by his network that he was “unlikeable” and promptly fired.
So he did what any recently single, recently unemployed, 44-year-old gay male does: He got butt implants and became a gay adult film star/male escort.
“It was a good thing getting released from my contract,” Walker, who now goes by Dallas Steele, says in a new interview with C&C. “I’m much more successful in every measure than I ever was before.”
Over the past 19 months, Steele has shot a total of six top-selling pornos with both TitanMen and MenAtPlay, and he’s been nominated for a whopping nine 2016 Grabby Awards. And he’s just getting started.
“I am as comfortable in a suit as I am a jockstrap,” Steele says.
Despite his overnight success in the adult entertainment industry, Steele still has fair share of naysayers, mainly people who criticize him for his age. But he doesn’t let that bother him.
“They’ve obviously decided at some point that there are limitations about who you can be and what you can do once you hit 40,” he says.
Ultimately, he says, he feels sorry for those people.
“I’m sorry if the haters have decided that gays over forty are supposed to put on the board shorts, move to the suburbs and settle down to bridge parties once per week,” he says. “I don’t plan to ever go quietly into the night.”
